Description

Reporting to the Director of Programs (for faculty affairs and administration), the Associate Director of Programs (for faculty administration) provides strategic leadership, oversight, and operational management for key administrative functions that support the Department and its faculty. This position serves as the operational owner of the department's faculty pre-boarding and onboarding process, leads a centralized faculty administrative support team, and oversees key business processes that support operational effectiveness across the Department. Working in close partnership with departmental leaders, clinical vice chairs, division directors, and administrative partners, the Associate Director develops and continuously improves systems, workflows, and service models that ensure physician and faculty readiness, enhance service delivery, reduce administrative burden, and support departmental priorities.

 

The Associate Director serves as a primary liaison between the Department and numerous institutional and external partners, including Human Resources, Finance, Medical Staff Offices, Emory Healthcare Physicians Services, licensing and regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders involved in faculty recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing operations.

 

The current portfolio includes responsibilities related to:

 

  • Faculty pre-boarding, onboarding, and organizational integration
  • Physician licensure, credentialing, privileging, and practice readiness coordination
  • Faculty candidate recruitment visits and recruitment support services
  • Administrative support services for faculty and departmental leaders
  • Non-ACGME trainee administration and support
  • Business process improvement and operational excellence
  • Cross-functional stakeholder partnership and service delivery
  • The Associate Director provides leadership, supervision, coaching, and professional development for a diverse team of approximately eight staff members responsible for faculty operations and administrative support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs the strategic planning, development, and implementation of program.
  • Collaborates with representatives from private, government, and international agencies.
  • Represents the program in various national and international fora.
  • Conducts research, designs new initiatives, writes publishable articles and papers, collaborates with others, and designs programs.
  • May supervise staff.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in field related to specific program as indicated and five years program related experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success leading change initiatives and building collaborative relationships across organizational boundaries.
  • Additional preferred qualifications include experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Academic medicine, physician practice operations, healthcare administration, faculty affairs, or higher education administration.
    • Physician recruitment, onboarding, licensure, credentialing, privileging, practice readiness, or other complex faculty lifecycle processes.
    • Leading and developing professional staff teams, including teams that combine specialized functional roles and shared-service administrative support functions.
    • Managing complex operational processes involving multiple stakeholders, regulatory requirements, and interdependent workflows.
    • Partnering with physician leaders, senior administrators, or executive-level stakeholders.
    • Business process improvement, workflow redesign, operational excellence, service delivery model development, or continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Using metrics, dashboards, and operational data to drive decision-making and improve performance.
    • Managing departmental, operational, or program budgets and resources.
