- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
- Obtains, reviews, and maintains patient insurance information to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely updates within applicable systems.
- Coordinates and secures required insurance authorizations, referrals, and approvals to support timely access to scheduled services and treatments.
- Counsels patients and families regarding insurance coverage, financial responsibility, billing inquiries, and available financial assistance programs.
- Serves as a liaison between patients, payors, clinical teams, and other internal stakeholders to facilitate communication and resolve insurance-related issues.
- Monitors insurance eligibility and coverage status, communicates relevant updates to appropriate care team members, and recommends actions to address coverage or financial concerns.
- Coordinates patient scheduling activities associated with initial evaluations and ensures required financial and insurance clearances are completed.
Education:
- High School Diploma/GED required.
Experience:
- 1 year healthcare experience, required
- 2 years hospital experience, preferred.
- 1 year healthcare billing experience, preferred.
Physical Demands
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
