As a Principal Software Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving innovation in cloud-native architectures and AI/ML integration. This role requires overseeing the full software development lifecycle across multiple teams, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance. You will provide strategic technical leadership, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex business needs into effective technical solutions. Your expertise will support Walmart’s long-term platform evolution while fostering continuous improvement and operational excellence across engineering initiatives.

The Global Security & Investigations Technology team develops intelligent, scalable platforms that enable proactive management of security and operational risks. Utilizing AI-driven innovation, data insights, and resilient engineering, the team supports investigators, security operators, and aviation units with advanced technology to enhance decision-making, automate processes, and strengthen compliance. Focused on cloud-native architecture and continuous improvement, the team delivers robust, maintainable solutions aligned with business priorities, transforming security into a technology-enabled capability that supports secure global growth and operational excellence.
What you'll do:
- Lead platform engineering efforts to deliver scalable, cloud-native infrastructure and reusable tooling aligned with strategic roadmaps.
- Drive full software development lifecycle across multiple teams, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and real-time data processing capabilities.
- Architect and integrate AI-enhanced applications using modern programming languages and model-driven design principles.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship, promoting engineering excellence and standardization across teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable technical requirements and measurable success metrics.
- Champion continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, tools, and product quality.
What you'll bring:
- Extensive experience in platform engineering leadership, delivering scalable and reliable infrastructure solutions.
- Proficiency in cloud-native architecture and distributed system design for high availability and fault tolerance.
- Strong technical expertise in AI/ML integration, software development lifecycle, and continuous integration/deployment.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams, mentor engineers, and influence architectural decisions.
- Skilled in applying model-driven design and leveraging modern development tools to enhance productivity.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00
