Mid-Level SQL Database Administrator (DBA) / SQL SME

CORE-CSI is a small business headquartered in Sterling, VA. We provide trusted and results-oriented expertise to the Intelligence Community, the Department of Defense, and other Federal and Commercial customers across the US. Core-CSI is seeking a talented Mid-Level SQL Database Administrator (DBA) / SQL SME to support a federal government customer. The successful candidate will perform hands-on administration, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and development activities for SQL Server and related enterprise database environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain SQL Server, SQL Cluster, and standalone SQL database environments.
• Configure and troubleshoot SQL databases and database servers.
• Perform SQL scripting, backup/restore, patching, upgrades, and performance tuning.
• Implement and test High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions.
• Monitor database health, capacity, availability, and performance.
• Support monitoring platforms such as Idera and SolarWinds.
• Troubleshoot database and application integration issues, including SharePoint-related database support.
• Process incidents, service requests, and Requests for Change using ServiceNow.
• Perform software installations and scheduled server/database maintenance.
• Develop scripts and automation to improve routine database administration.
• Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of database incidents.
• Collaborate with senior DBAs and government technical teams.
• Document work performed and contribute to weekly support reports.

 

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of database administration experience.
• US Citizenship is required for this position.
• Hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server.
• Experience with SQL Clustering, SQL scripting, backup/recovery, patching, and performance tuning.
• Experience implementing or supporting HA/DR environments.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle, and MS Access is desirable.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
• Microsoft SQL/database certification is preferred.
