Team Manager, STEM Content Analysis - Pharma Abstraction

We are looking for a Team Manager, STEM Content Analysis based in India to join our Patents Content – Pharma Abstracting team in Chennai. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team that produces the editorially enhanced patent summaries, known as DWPI™ Abstracts, that power DWPI™ (Derwent World Patents Index), one of the world's leading patent intelligence databases.

About You

• Must have a Bachelor’s or master’s degree in related field.
• Must have minimum 5 years’ experience in management in a global corporate setting with minimum 1 to 2 years of previous management or equivalent experience in project or process leadership.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in management in particular defining clear objectives and accountability, monitoring progress, measuring results, and delivering timely and objective feedback with ability to work with the global teams and leaders in process and management improvements.
• Must be at career level 4 or above with last performance rating as achieved or above.
• Must have excellent process management capabilities in content operations with a strong focus for identifying opportunities for synergies and simplification of complex processes. Knowledge of Agile processes and delivery preferred.

It would be great if you also had . . .  

• Educational qualification in Pharma or Life sciences.
• Knowledge of the Intellectual Property (IP) industry, products, and services.

What will you be doing in this role? 

• As Team Manager, you will lead a team of scientific experts responsible for analyzing complex pharmaceutical and life sciences patent disclosures and transforming them into concise, value-added abstracts that enable customers to quickly understand the novelty, significance, and commercial relevance of inventions.
• Drive a culture of execution, quality, and continuous improvement through KPIs, reporting, best practices, and quality controls.
• Define and execute operational strategies, standards, SLAs, and scalable processes to support Clarivate’s content ecosystem.
• Manage departmental budgets, headcount planning, and strategic initiatives to achieve long-term business objectives.
• Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to drive innovation, operational excellence, and successful delivery of key programs.

About the Team   

The Pharma Abstracting team is a 28-member scientific content team based in Chennai, responsible for creating and maintaining the editorially enhanced patent summaries that powers DWPI™ (Derwent World Patents Index), one of the world's leading patent intelligence databases, while adhering to individual and team goals, production targets, and defined quality standards.

Hours of Work (Full time)

9:00 AM – 06:00PM (IST) (including 1 hr break).
