Summary:
The Summer College Internship Program is a 10-week paid internship experience that provides undergraduate and graduate students with the opportunity to attend development workshops, network, and be part of our company. Our college interns work on meaningful projects, are mentored under their respective managers, and continue to develop throughout the entire summer. Through the internship program, our interns can attend development workshops that are focused on key business concepts. Interns may work within the skills-based tracks of Business Administration, Information Technology, Actuarial, Human Resources, Analytics & Data, Communications, Finance, Marketing & Sales, Project Management, Clinical Studies, Customer Experience, Digital Operations, and other non-technical and/or technical based degree programs.
- This is a paid 10-week summer internship from the first Monday in June to the second Friday in August (up to 40 hours per week).
- Interns may reside in either a technical or non-technical area.
- Development workshops are provided to help with the transition from school to the corporate environment.
- Housing is not provided as part of our program.
Essential Accountabilities:
- Specific duties will vary by assignment; specific divisional callouts are listed below.
- The Sales and Service Intern will support key strategic initiatives across the Commercial Markets Sales and Account Service organization while gaining exposure to health insurance, sales operations, account management, customer experience, and business analytics.
- Throughout the summer, the intern will work closely with Sales, Account Service, Marketing, Training, and Leadership teams on a variety of projects.
- Capstone Project: Sales Effectiveness & Resource Optimization Initiative: The intern's primary project will focus on improving the tools, resources, and information used by the Commercial Markets Sales and Account Service teams. Key responsibilities will include:
- Meeting with Sales and Account Service associates, managers, and business partners to identify common challenges and opportunities for improvement.
- Evaluating current sales resources, training materials, Teams channels, SharePoint sites, WebCRD content, and other commonly used tools.
- Identifying gaps, duplicate content, and inefficiencies that impact productivity and onboarding.
- Developing and organizing standardized program overviews, educational resources, and quick-reference tools that support client, prospect, and broker conversations.
- Creating a centralized "Where to Go For..." guide that helps employees efficiently locate key reports, systems, contacts, presentations, and resources.
- Researching best practices in sales enablement, knowledge management, and onboarding.
- Exploring potential uses of Microsoft Copilot and AI tools to improve access to information and increase team productivity.
- Final Deliverable:
- At the conclusion of the internship, the intern will present recommendations to Commercial Markets leadership outlining opportunities to improve sales effectiveness, onboarding, resource accessibility, knowledge management, and employee productivity. The presentation will include findings gathered through employee interviews, implemented improvements, future-state recommendations, and a demonstration of the resources and tools developed during the internship.
- Works with a mentor and supports key strategic projects.
- Completes work assignments based on business needs, departmental priorities, and individual qualifications.
- Performs a mix of technical and/or non-technical tasks that will cover a broad range of business-related projects.
- Creates and delivers presentations at completion of internship.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Desired Majors/Degree Programs Include: Business, Marketing, Communications, Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, Data Analytics, Psychology, Organizational Leadership or similar program(s)
- Preferred (but not required) experience with: Interest in healthcare, employee engagement, organizational effectiveness, sales operations, customer experience, or business strategy. Experience creating presentations, conducting research, analyzing survey results, or leading projects through coursework, internships, student organizations, or employment. Familiarity with Power BI, Salesforce, Microsoft Copilot, or AI-enabled business tools is preferred but not required. Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, professionalism, and willingness to learn.
- High School diploma along with proof of continuous college enrollment (enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program).
- Must be in good academic standing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to interact with technical and non-technical audiences and interface with staff at all levels of the company.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail changing environment and deliver high-quality work product.
- Ability to work well in a team establishing good working relationships with peers.
- Demonstrates strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and prioritization skills.
- Proactive approach to work, displaying creativity and flexibility in completing assigned tasks.
- Commitment to continuous improvement of skills and team functioning.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as on intra- and inter- departmental teams as needed.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience using a desktop computer in a professional environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work while sitting and/or standing at a workstation viewing a computer and using a keyboard, mouse and/or phone for three (3) or more hours at a time.
- Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or training courses as needed.
