Industrial Equipment Assembly
Openwork is hiring an experienced Mechanical Assembler for a manufacturing company in Houston, TX 77064. This position involves assembling, rebuilding, aligning, inspecting, and testing industrial mechanical equipment according to blueprints and customer specifications. Qualified candidates must have 2–3 years of hands-on mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
Position at a Glance:
Location: Houston, TX 77064
Pay: $23.00 per hour | Weekly Pay
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Shift: 1st Shift
Employment Type: Full-Time
Overtime: As needed
What You'll Be Doing:
- Assemble and rebuild industrial mechanical equipment.
- Read and follow blueprints, specifications, and job travelers.
- Position, align, and secure mechanical components.
- Assemble gears and verify proper gearbox alignment.
- Measure and check component clearances.
- Install piping, fixtures, wiring, and electrical components.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and hoists during assembly.
- Inspect and test equipment for proper operation.
- Repair, replace, and finish components as needed.
- Maintain and lubricate mechanical parts.
- Verify assemblies meet quality and customer specifications.
- Follow company safety and quality procedures.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- 2–3 years of mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing environment — REQUIRED.
- Strong, relevant manufacturing experience — REQUIRED.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical assembly blueprints.
- Experience assembling industrial machinery or mechanical equipment.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment maintenance.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Ability to inspect assemblies and identify defects or alignment issues.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Reliable attendance and dependable work habits.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Important: General warehouse or material-handling experience alone does not meet the qualifications for this skilled mechanical assembly position.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility.
- Industrial noise requiring participation in a hearing conservation program.
- Ability to safely lift 25–50 pounds.
- Standing, walking, sitting, and other physical activity throughout the shift.
- Regular use of hand tools, power tools, and industrial assembly equipment.
- Overtime as required by business needs.
- Compliance with workplace safety procedures and required protective equipment.
