Reports to: Controller
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

POSITION SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to oversee and assist with various processes in the accounting department. Essential Functions:
Oversee accounting department and internal auditing- Supervise, train and mentor accounting dept staff
- Serve as a liaison between advisors and the accounting team
- Oversee/handle accounts payable and receivable workflows
- Test and maintain internal financial controls
- Oversee team member benefits administration
- Oversee advisor commissions process
- Reconcile complex bank and general ledger accounts
- Assist with tax preparation and filings
- Assist with managing client/vendor relationships (office supplies, rent, copiers etc)
- Oversee/handle accounting for North Star related organizations (NS Tax, NSRG Ventures, Charitable Foundation)

Minimum requirements in terms of educational background, work experience, licenses /certifications or other knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting. CPA preferred
- 3-5 years experience in accounting, financials, and financial services preferred
- Previous experience supervising accounting staff preferred
- Strong working experience using ERP accounting system (i.e. Great Plains, Business Central)•Solid experience using Quickbooks and other accounting software
- Strong curiosity and ability to identify and implement process improvements•Experience integrating AI into accounting functions is a plus
- Extremely high attention to detail and accuracy
- Maintain confidentiality of information
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and research compensation/accounting issues
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and working with large data files

- Knowledge of insurance / financial services industry preferred Experience with payroll administration would be a plus
