JOB SUMMARY:
The Clinical Pharmacy Technician supports specialty pharmacy operations by collecting, organizing, documenting, and maintaining patient and clinical information to facilitate pharmacist review and continuity of patient care. This role works closely with pharmacists, healthcare providers, and internal care teams to ensure patient records are accurate, complete, and prepared for timely clinical evaluation and follow-up activities. The Clinical Pharmacy Technician plays an important role in supporting operational efficiency, documentation quality, regulatory compliance, and accreditation requirements within the specialty pharmacy environment.
Key responsibilities include gathering and validating patient demographic, medication, diagnosis, laboratory, allergy, and treatment information; obtaining and documenting records from prescribers and other healthcare providers; identifying missing, incomplete, or inconsistent documentation; maintaining accurate pharmacy records; and preparing patient information for pharmacist review. The incumbent supports workflow activities that promote safe, efficient, and compliant pharmacy operations while maintaining the confidentiality and security of protected health information.
This is a non-clinical, technician-level position. The Clinical Pharmacy Technician does not perform patient assessments, interpret clinical information, develop treatment plans, make therapy recommendations, or exercise clinical judgment. All clinical decision-making, including patient assessment, therapy appropriateness, dosing determinations, and clinical verification, remains the sole responsibility of a licensed pharmacist.
