The Ballast Tools Equipment (BTE) division of Good Earth Tools is experiencing tremendous growth and we are adding teammates to support this growth. The Heavy Equipment Electrical Technician is responsible for building, wiring, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and commissioning electrical systems used on heavy equipment and mobile machinery. This position requires the ability to read electrical schematics, perform panel assembly and machine wiring, diagnose electrical and electronic control systems, and support firmware updates and configuration of equipment using PC-based software tools.

Responsibilities:

•  Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring prints, and technical documentation.

•  Build electrical control panels by interpreting and following electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.

•  Install, route, terminate, label, and test electrical wiring on heavy equipment and mobile machinery.

•  Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, and control system issues on heavy equipment.

•  Utilize digital multimeters and other diagnostic tools to measure voltage, current, resistance, continuity, and signal quality.

•  Assist with downloading, updating, and verifying BTE firmware using PC-based software applications.

•  Configure, calibrate, and diagnose machine control systems through laptop-based diagnostic and service tools.

•  Verify proper operation of sensors, actuators, displays, controllers, and communication devices.

•  Document wiring changes, troubleshooting activities, and repair actions.

•  Follow company safety procedures and electrical best practices while working on energized and non-energized systems.

•  Collaborate with engineering, controls, and production teams to resolve technical issues and improve machine performance.

Requirements

•  High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in electrical systems preferred.

•  Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

•  Experience with machine wiring, harness installation, or electrical panel assembly.

•  Knowledge of DC electrical systems, electrical troubleshooting, and control circuits.

•  Proficiency using a digital multimeter and basic electrical diagnostic equipment.

•  Basic to intermediate PC skills. Exposure to file management and communication via USB, Ethernet, or serial connections is preferred.

•  Ability to learn and use PC-based diagnostic software to configure and troubleshoot heavy equipment systems.

•  Must have the ability to work 40 hours a week and maintain a punctual, reliable attendance record

Preferred Qualifications:

•  Experience working with heavy equipment, mobile equipment, agricultural machinery, or industrial equipment.

•  Familiarity with CAN bus, J1939, or Ethernet communication networks.

•  Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, or mobile controllers.

•  Understanding of hydraulic and electro-hydraulic control systems is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

•  In addition to being able to sit, stand, walk, read, talk, write and hear, to perform the essential functions of this job an individual must be able to do the following additional activities: Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

•  The following should be expected to be encountered: long periods of standing, periodic exposure to seasonal heat and cold, working with oils and greases, noise, field work as needed, working outside, stooping, bending, squatting, or working in a prone position.
