TTM Technologies, Inc. – Publicly Traded US Company, NASDAQ (TTMI) – Top-5 Global Printed Circuit Board Manufacturer
About TTM
TTM Technologies, Inc. is a leading global manufacturer of technology products, including mission systems, radio frequency (“RF”) components, RF microwave/microelectronic assemblies, and technologically advanced printed circuit boards (“PCB”s). TTM stands for time-to-market, representing how TTM's time-critical, one-stop design, engineering and manufacturing services enable customers to reduce the time required to develop new products and bring them to market.
Additional information can be found at www.ttm.com
Must have a background that would permit the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to issue a Secret Clearance, which includes US Citizenship.
TTM is an advanced-technology leader in highly sophisticated surveillance, communications analysis and integration solutions. Our systems are deployed across a wide range of land, sea and air applications, providing our aerospace, defense and commercial customers with a distinct tactical advantage.
In this role, the Senior PCB Designer will design moderate to complex printed circuit board (PCB) layouts in the domain of Digital, Analog, Power & RF interconnect applications. This includes responsibility for circuit board layout conceptualization, (CAD application by means of Siemens Xpedition, Cadence Allegro & Altium tool sets), detail design activities and value-engineering in support of internal TTM programs.
Areas of emphasis/focus include physical design (CAD implementation)/documentation utilizing best practice of electrical IPC standards/methodologies with experienced approach to manufacturing and sustaining maintenance of legacy design projects. Complementary support provided by a combination of TTM Management, Field Application Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering and NPI Manufacturing teams.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design Engineering Physical Design-
- PCB concept sketches for assistance in design layout estimating
- PCB design suggestions/trade-offs regarding initial engineering inputs
- Support changes to existing schematic diagrams using
TTM suite of tools: OrCAD, Altium and/or DxDesigner
- Place and route components ensuring that all electrical and physical
specifications meet the detailed design requirements for each PCB design.
Utilization of Siemens Xpedition, Cadence Allegro and/or Altium required
- Participate in design reviews, interface with electrical, mechanical,
manufacturing and process engineers to design proto-type and production
printed circuit boards in accordance with TTM standards and
quality procedures
- Collaborate on assigned projects closely with Si (Signal Integrity)
or various engineering disciplines, fellow designers and Program
Management
- Provide layout feedback to design engineers as needed to ensure
functionality and manufacturability of PCB designs
- Create fabrication and assembly drawings utilizing native CAD tools and/or
Siemens BluePrint
- Generate all output files (ODB++) & PCB/CCA
documentation) required for the manufacture of the board and assembly
- Maintain Engineering Change (ECN) responsibilities on re-design and
documentation updates
Industry and TTM-specific electrical standards and methodologies-
- Product safety and EMI consideration during eCAD layout (UL, CSA, NEBS,
Etc.)
- Standardization of electrical components and eCAD libraries utilizing IPC or
vendor specific standards
- Exceedingly experienced with High-Speed PCB Design Constraints:
Differential Pairs, Routing Topologies, Controlled Impedance, Length-matched
Traces and Delay Tuning
- Demonstrated experience with RF PCB routing complexities. Implement
layout rules for RF transmission lines (Micro-strip & Coplanar Waveguide),
signal line isolation practices, via fencing & unique RF routing structures
- Direct design experience related to multi-layer CCA and Flex PCB
technologies
- Current knowledge of μ-via/HDI layout methodologies and best practices
- Understanding of stack-up materials/construction along with impedance
modeling requirements
Qualification/Knowledge/Skills Required:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience with primary hands-on demonstrated proficiency of Siemen’s Xpedition (VX2.14 or later), Cadence Allegro/OrCAD (17.4 or later) and/or Altium product experience is required. Comprehensive understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering design practices related to printed circuit board electrical drafting and fabrication drawing creation experience is essential. Necessary familiarities with electrical design utilizing IPC standards, IAW IPC-2221/3 and associated specs is critical. Knowledge and methodology utilizing standard IPC Class III approach to design and manufacturing concerns is also necessary.
- Education: Minimum Associates in Electrical Design/Drafting or BS in Electronic Technology. Related eCAD training certification/career experience will be considered in lieu of a degreed program with 5-10 year track record.
- Related PCB design for the Aerospace and Defense sectors is highly desirable.
- CID/CID++ Certification for PCB Designers highly recognized as professional validation of design, documentation, and manufacturability skills within the industry.
- Solid oral communication and interfacing skills with technical and manufacturing personnel to resolve engineering tasks. Propose alternatives when faced with challenging PCB design situations including resolutions to non-standard problems.
- Appropriate understanding of vendor component data sheets for creation of schematic library and/or PCB footprints expected.
- Background exposure in Valor (or similar) DFM TQ (Technical Query) report resolution from associated PCB location. Use of CAM software tools (i.e. – Siemen’s CAM350, Siemens BluePrint) highly suggested.
- U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to ITAR requirements.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Mental Demands: Implement personal design recommendations and see projects through to completion. Recommend and implement improvements to processes increasing efficiency. The ability to communicate effectively by telephone (or online WebEx) while in group meetings and discussions. Capacity to give and receive information accurately and efficiently on a daily basis within the team environment is necessary. The capability to follow directions and procedures accurately, organization of facts and figures and apply arithmetic is essential.
- Physical Demands: Daily sitting focusing on and operation of a personal computer to enter data for over 60 minutes at a time
- Equipment Used and Necessary: Personal Computer, Printer, Telephone
- Environment: Office environment. Air conditioning, fluorescent lights
- Hours: Standard 40 working hours per business week.
