Job Description

This 10-week internship program, (June 7, 2027-August 13, 2027), offers a set hourly rate of $35.00 an hour and a potential pathway to full-time opportunities with Fannie Mae.

This position has multiple openings and will be based in our Washington, D.C. (Midtown Center) office.

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE

As an intern on our Treasury & Capital Markets team, you will work alongside market professionals on the Fannie Mae Market Room trading floor and gain hands-on exposure to the mortgage-backed securities (MBS) and broader mortgage-related fixed-income markets.

BUSINESS & MARKETS TRACK

Interns in the Business & Markets Track will be placed directly within market-facing lines of business. This track is designed for students interested in capital markets transactions, trading and liquidity, market strategy, business operations, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.

Examples of assignments may include:

  • Supporting capital markets transactions, trading activities, securitization processes, and other market-facing business activities
  • Monitoring market conditions, analyzing trends, and preparing timely market commentary, presentations, and business updates
  • Working with markets, transactions, risk, operations, and technology partners to support business priorities
  • Assisting with reporting, risk monitoring, controls, process improvement, and other time-sensitive team deliverables
  • Organizing and interpreting financial and operational information to support decisions and communicate insights to business partners

Business & Markets Track interns may be placed with teams such as Pricing, Whole Loan Conduit, Mortgage-Backed Securities Liquidity, Credit Risk Transfer, Structured Transactions, Securitization Policy, Multifamily Capital Markets, Market Risk, Retained Portfolio, Investor Engagement & Advocacy, or Treasury.

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Minimum Qualifications

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Academic achievement (preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher)
  • Shows curiosity and adaptability in learning and responsibly applying new technologies, including artificial intelligence, to reimagine how we work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with an expected graduation date of Spring 2028
  • Pursuing a degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Management, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Strong analytical reasoning, attention to detail, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience analyzing information and preparing clear reports, presentations, or recommendations
  • Interest in financial markets, transactions, market operations, risk management, or stakeholder engagement
  • Interest in fixed-income markets, mortgage-backed securities, housing finance, capital markets, or related fields
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively on detail-oriented and time-sensitive assignments
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and contribute effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment

The hiring range for this role is set forth below.
