Engineering Lead

A leading organisation within the financial services sector, is seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to provide technical leadership across development teams while driving innovation, modernisation and the delivery of high-quality technology solutions. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives on mentoring teams, shaping technical strategy and influencing engineering excellence.

Responsibilities:

• Provide senior technical leadership across multiple development teams.
• Drive solution architecture, technical design and engineering best practices.
• Lead application modernisation, cloud migration and legacy transformation initiatives.
• Oversee software development delivery, ensuring quality, security and scalability.
• Mentor and coach developers while fostering a high-performance engineering culture.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to hands-on development where required.
• Champion DevOps, observability and modern engineering practices.
• Drive innovation through the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development.

Requirements:

• Minimum 7 years' experience in software engineering or a related technical field.
• Proven experience leading technical teams and driving engineering outcomes.
• Strong hands-on experience with C#/.NET; candidates with strong Java/Spring Boot experience may also be considered.
• Solid understanding of APIs, systems integration, architecture and solution design.
• Experience across front-end, back-end, cloud, DevOps and microservices environments.
• Demonstrated experience with cloud migration and application modernisation projects.
• Strong coding capability and experience conducting code reviews.
• Ability to mentor, develop and inspire engineering teams.
• Knowledge of security, quality engineering and observability principles.
• Exposure to tools such as Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry and Playwright will be advantageous.
• Practical experience or strong interest in AI-driven engineering innovation.
• Previous banking or financial services experience will be highly advantageous.
