JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

JOB SUMMARY:

Quality Coordinator Specialist plays a critical role in driving organizational performance by transforming complex clinical and operational data into actionable insights that directly support quality, safety, and efficiency outcomes. This position is responsible for comprehensive data activities, including abstracting and reviewing medical records, collecting and validating data from multiple internal and external sources, and applying analytical methods to identify trends, variation, and opportunities for improvement. The Quality Coordinator Specialist will develop, maintain, and interpret dashboards, scorecards, and quality reports that inform leaders, clinicians, and frontline teams. These analytics will support strategic initiatives, regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, value-based programs and evidence‑based performance improvement efforts. The role requires proactively identifying meaningful patterns within hospital and third‑party datasets, translating findings into clear recommendations, and partnering with operational leaders to implement sustainable quality and performance interventions. Working collaboratively with colleagues across St. Tammany Health System, the Quality Coordinator Specialist ensures that care delivery meets or exceeds established standards, evidence‑based guidelines, and all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Through rigorous data validation, stakeholder engagement, and continuous monitoring, this position strengthens the organization’s ability to measure, understand, and elevate the quality of care.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Clinical healthcare preferred with at least 4-5 years in hospital and/or ambulatory settings (such as but not limited to data analytics, performance improvement, clinical)
  • Master(s) preferred in Business, Public Health, Health Care Management, Nursing, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Electronic Health Records
  • Knowledge of and experience with various data aggregation, analytical and report writing tools
  • Experience with databases, data analysis and performance improvement.
  • Experience collating/normalizing data from disparate systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Outlook
  • Experience with performance improvement methodology including Lean Six Sigma with belt level certification preferred.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced Data Analytics & Interpretation
    Demonstrates the ability to synthesize large, complex clinical, operational, and financial datasets from multiple internal and external sources. Applies advanced statistical methods, comparative analytics, and trend analysis to identify variation, performance gaps, and emerging risks. Translates raw data into meaningful insights that inform executive decision‑making and drive strategic quality initiatives.
  • Expertise in Data Validation & Quality Assurance
    Ensures the accuracy, reliability, and completeness of data through rigorous validation, reconciliation, and audit processes. Maintains a deep understanding of measure specifications, risk‑adjustment methodologies, and regulatory reporting frameworks to ensure all outputs meet required standards.
  • Dashboard, Reporting & Visualization Proficiency
    Designs, develops, and maintains sophisticated dashboards, scorecards, and automated reporting tools using modern analytics platforms. Presents data in a clear, actionable manner tailored to diverse stakeholders, including executives, clinicians, and operational leaders. Communicates findings with clarity, highlighting implications, root causes, and priority areas.
  • Strategic Insight Generation & Problem‑Solving
    Proactively leverages data to uncover actionable opportunities to improve quality, patient safety, efficiency, compliance, and accreditation readiness. Uses quantitative and qualitative evidence to recommend targeted interventions, forecast potential impacts, and support long‑term organizational improvement strategies.
  • Regulatory, Accreditation & Evidence‑Based Standards Expertise
    Demonstrates knowledge of federal, state, and accreditation requirements (e.g., The Joint Commission, CMS). Ensures all analytical work aligns with evolving regulatory expectations and industry best practices. Utilizes evidence‑based guidelines to evaluate performance and identify areas requiring corrective action.
  • Performance Improvement & Change Management Capability
    Applies Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA, and other improvement methodologies to guide teams through root‑cause analysis, workflow redesign, and solution implementation. Uses data to monitor intervention effectiveness and ensure sustained improvements.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
    Works closely with leaders, clinicians, and interdisciplinary teams across St. Tammany Health System to ensure alignment between analytical findings and operational needs. Facilitates meaningful dialogue by converting complex data into practical, real‑world improvements that enhance the quality of care.
  • High‑Level Critical Thinking & Analytical Judgment
    Demonstrates strong capacity to interpret ambiguous situations, evaluate competing priorities, and make informed recommendations. Uses analytical reasoning to anticipate downstream effects, identify systemic contributors to performance trends, and support proactive risk mitigation.
