SUMMARY:
This position will manage the purchasing activities for in Hartselle with oversight for MC Cable. These two locations are in very close proximity. This position requires the employee to be located on-site in office in Hartselle, AL.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain or related field.
- At least five years’ experience in purchasing, supply chain, or inventory management.
- At least three years’ experience in a managing role within purchasing
- Negotiating contracts, pricing, terms, and service agreements with suppliers
- Managing supplier relationships and performance
- Professional and effective written and oral communication skills.
- Sound problem solving and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft office and the use of ERP systems.
- Well organized.
- Negotiating experience desired.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY AREAS AND DUTIES:
- Support Operations and Finance teams with inventory management, forecasting and control.
- Implement strategies to maintain continuous supply of purchased materials that result in high customer service.
- Manage inventories by increasing turns and minimizing excess and obsolete materials.
- Support/drive the implementation of purchasing best practices.
- Maintain and build positive vendor relations.
- Support on-time delivery and inventory goals.
- Successfully lead/support negotiations with suppliers that satisfy the Company’s internal price, quality, delivery, product development requirements, and cost/price reduction efforts.
- Resolve supplier quality issues.
- Work with accounting and accounts payable to resolve any discrepancies.
- Manage the purchase order process.
- Additional duties as assigned, not determined at the time of hire.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- This role operates in an office environment at a manufacturing plant. Plant tours and walks may be required in which proper safety protocol needs to be followed. Some travel to Company plants, suppliers and customers may be required.
