Ko wai mātou – About us

Kia ora. We’re Foodies. You know Gilmours, New World, PAK’nSAVE, and Four Square, right? That’s us!

With more than 320 stores and over 27,000 Foodies across Te Ika-a-Māui, Foodstuffs North Island is a co-operative proudly owned by our Members. Our purpose is simple – making sure New Zealanders get more out of life, and we’re driven by our aspiration to be one of New Zealand’s most customer-driven and productive retailers.

As we continue to evolve and grow the Four Square banner, we're looking for an experienced Four Square Store Lead to help bring our store vision to life and support the successful implementation of our Four Square 4.0 strategy.

Te Tūranga – About the role

This is a unique opportunity to sit at the centre of one of our most exciting retail transformation programmes!

Working closely with the Head of Four Square, you'll act as the vital link between our Support Centre Teams and Owner Operators, leading the retail setup and implementation of new and evolving Four Square stores. You'll take the vision of our Four Square 4.0 strategy and turn it into reality, ensuring stores are customer-ready, operationally sound, and opened to the standard our customers expect.

You'll manage multiple store projects at different stages of implementation, partnering with Owner Operators, internal stakeholders and support functions to ensure milestones are achieved, barriers are removed, and stores are delivered on time.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the retail implementation and opening of new Four Square stores, project managing stores who are in planning stage or already in progress.
  • Acting as the key connection point between Owner Operators and Support Centre teams.
  • Driving adoption of the Four Square 4.0 strategy and securing stakeholder buy-in.
  • Managing multiple projects and implementation workstreams simultaneously.
  • Coordinating internal teams to ensure stores are ready to open on time and to standard.
  • Providing visibility of risks, issues and solutions while maintaining momentum across projects.
  • Supporting the transition of store-opening processes into sustainable business-as-usual operations.

This role will be based predominantly out of our Landing Support Centre in Mangere, Auckland, and will require regular travel around the North Island to our Four Square stores - a car is provided.
