Location: This role is based at our Bothell, WA office.
Travel: 10% domestic or international.
Job ID:
1715

The Role:

We are seeking a strategic, analytical, and hands-on IT Asset Manager to take full ownership of the lifecycle, financial health, and regulatory compliance of our global IT asset portfolio. In this role, you will bridge the gap between IT operations, finance, and legal compliance. You will be responsible for defining and executing asset management strategies that optimize technology spend, mitigate contract risks, track physical and logical inventory, and ensure our environments strictly align with internal security policies and external audit guidelines.

While this is a role focused on governance, compliance, and strategy, IonQ values a collaborative, hands-on approach. You will retain close visibility into our day-to-day operations by directly managing critical lifecycle logistics and providing basic IT helpdesk troubleshooting for our internal team.

Responsibilities:

Governance, Compliance & Financial Optimization

  • Strategic Asset Governance: Establish, maintain, and enforce comprehensive policies, standards, and procedures for the end-to-end lifecycle of corporate hardware and software assets.
  • Financial Optimization & Budgeting: Analyze technology spend patterns, software utilization, and hardware lifecycles to identify cost-saving opportunities. Partner with Finance and IT leadership to drive IT budget forecasting and reconcile vendor invoicing.
  • Software Asset Management (SAM): Oversee software license compliance, entitlements, and SaaS subscriptions. Audit usage metrics to proactively harvest underutilized licenses and mitigate the risk of non-compliance penalties.
  • Audit Readiness: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external IT asset audits (e.g., software publisher audits, SOC2 Type II, CMMC). Ensure corporate asset data is accurate, auditable, and continuously compliant.
  • Legal Holds & Discretion: Strictly manage and enforce Corporate Legal and Security protocols regarding hardware on active legal holds. Safely isolate, log, and preserve restricted hardware, maintaining an airtight, documented chain of custody.

Asset Lifecycle Coordination & Logistics

  • End-to-End Tracking: Supervise and execute the physical and logical lifecycle of assets—encompassing purchasing, receiving, tagging, active deployment, harvesting upon employee offboarding, and final secure data destruction/disposal.
  • Vendor & Contract Management: Manage relationships, procurement logistics, and lease frameworks with hardware and software vendors. Maintain a rigorous contract renewal calendar to prevent operational lapses or automated cost escalation.

Functional IT Helpdesk Troubleshooting

  • Operational Triage: Directly assist the IT support team by monitoring incoming helpdesk tickets, Slack channels, or walk-up requests, providing rapid triage or basic troubleshooting.
  • Access & Provisioning Support: Handle foundational IT tasks, including user account creation, SaaS application access provisioning, and device enrollment within our cloud directories or Mobile Device Management (MDM) suites.
  • Workplace Tech Support: Diagnose and resolve standard, ground-level technical issues involving operating system configurations, workplace peripherals, docking stations, and local conference room configurations.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in IT Asset Management (ITAM), Software Asset Management (SAM), IT procurement, or IT contract governance, with a proven track record of handling multi-site corporate environments.
  • Financial & Analytical Mastery: Strong experience managing IT vendor contracts, negotiating software renewals, managing vendor relations, and building data-driven cost-optimization strategies.
  • Compliance Rigor: Demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential compliance procedures, legal hold logistics, and precise chain-of-custody documentation.
  • Technical Fundamentals: Sound hands-on understanding of enterprise IT hardware, standard client operating systems (macOS and Windows), and core SaaS ecosystems.
  • Tools Expertise: Proficiency with formal ITAM, SAM, or ITSM software (e.g., ServiceNow, Snipe-IT, Jira Service Desk, Flexera, or Freshservice).
  • Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate fluidly with Corporate Legal, Finance, internal InfoSec leads, and external software auditors.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications such as IAITAM Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM), Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional (CHAMP), or Certified Software Asset Management (CSAM).
  • Experience in highly regulated or high-security sectors (e.g., Aerospace, Defense, or Technology) adhering to NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, or SOC2 frameworks.
  • Experience navigating the transition from traditional on-premise infrastructure to identity-driven cloud environments.

The approximate base salary range for this position is $114,750 - $150,237. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, equity, and a range of benefit options found on our career site.

Compensation will vary based on individual factors such as education, qualifications, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location, and calibration against relevant market data and internal team equity. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available. Our benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans, matching 401(k), unlimited PTO and paid holidays, parental/adoption leave, legal insurance, and a home technology stipend. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided when a candidate receives an offer of employment.
