SUMMARY
The Thrift Store Worker reports to the Thrift Store Manager and is responsible for providing general services related to the satisfactory operation of the parish thrift store. The Diocese of Orlando four core values lay the foundation for the work performed by its employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Actively promotes the vision and mission of the Thrift Store to customers and volunteers.
Greets customers and ascertains what each customer wants or needs. Describes merchandise and explains use, operation, and care of merchandise to customers. Recommends, selects, and helps locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires.
Computes sales prices, total purchases and receives and processes cash or credit payment. Answers questions regarding the store and its merchandise.
Regularly picks up items from donor houses, including furniture and large items. Moves, prices and delivers furniture and large items on the floor.
Helps organize and maintain inventory to ensure store is well stocked.
Helps to maintain a clean, attractive, and safe environment.
Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

CATHOLIC FAITH Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED required. Related experience in retail sales highly preferred. Basic mathematical abilities, including the ability to add, subtract, divide, multiply, and tabulate figures.
ORGANIZATIONAL/INTERPERSONAL SKILLS Excellent organizational skills are required. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Strong teamwork skills required. Excellent time management skills required.
LANGUAGE/COMMUNICATION SKILLS The ability to communicate, listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing and maps. Good verbal communication skills and excellent active listening skills. Strong English language skills in both spoken and written word.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position daily requires moving bulky and heavy furniture, stock, stocking shelves, organizing donations and keeping the store in customer-ready condition. This position also requires the ability to: Process information and merchandise through computer system and POS register system. Freely access all areas of the store including selling floor, stock area, and register area. Operate and use all equipment necessary to run the store. Climb ladders. Move or handle merchandise throughout the store generally weighing 50-150 pounds. Good driving skills (local)) and strong emphasis on safety.
