Currently, we have a Business Process Specialist opportunity available in our Supply Chain Governance and Oversight Section. The Business Process Specialist provides advice, guidance and assistance to ensure the department achieves its business goals and objectives, and reports on monitoring process performance measures and assessments. The Business Process Specialist also participates in the development and recommendation of a business process framework, and in the implementation of effective and sustaining performance measures, business processes, procedures and improvement initiatives.

This is a term position which may be for a period of up to 60 months, offers a competitive compensation package and is located on-site in Tiverton, Ontario.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice, guidance and assistance to ensure the department achieves its business goals and objectives. Provide reports for monitoring process performance measures and assessments.

  • Participate in the development and recommendation of a business process framework, and in the implementation of effective and sustaining performance measures, business processes, procedures and improvement initiatives. Provide advice, guidance and ongoing assistance to process owners with respect to business improvements.  Create formal, concise and effective documentation describing these processes for use by other areas of the business.

  • Provide facilitation support internally to the Division. Act as the Single Point of Contact between the Division and the Learning Center to ensure training material and related activities conform to current divisional work methods, procedures and training programs.

  • Coordinate activities with external service providers. Monitor and participate in reviews and audits of business and external service provider processes. Resolve issues as appropriate.

  • Identify changes and enhancements required for the effective utilization of the Maximo system. This includes analyzing, researching developing and recommending business requirements for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Maximo System. Provide system troubleshooting. Perform initial identification of system errors. Communicate system issues and critical errors to the appropriate support group. Perform integration and acceptance testing activities for enhancements and fixes to the system. Perform release testing. Maintain the Maximo Standards & Procedures library.

  • Provide consultative services to users and line management in the use of the Maximo system.

  • Design and facilitate communications and integration forums to support work program objectives.

  • Develop communication packages necessary to support process standardization. Develop communication plans consistent with overall process schedule and plans.

  • Assist staff in the implementation of new business processes and the incorporation of necessary change management interventions.

  • Create and use visual data models of business processes to be used for on-going analysis and communication purposes.

  • Provide, on an as-required basis, facilitation services.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience:

  • This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the successful completion of a four-year university education, or by having the equivalent level of education.

  • A period of over 6 years, up to and including 8 years, is considered necessary to gain this experience.

  • Requires a knowledge of the principles of business methods, business processes, procedure development, organizational structure, change management and the practical application of these principles to ensure effective and efficient program implementation.

  • Requires this knowledge to participate in the development of a process framework together with measures of process effectiveness and providing support in departmental standards.

  • Requires knowledge of English, both in orally and written form, to effectively prepare concise, clearly understandable reviews, presentations, correspondence, process descriptions, procedures, guides and reports, and to discuss philosophy and requirements with others both internally and externally to the Company.

  • Requires experience in the areas of planning, organization, and change management associated with business improvement initiatives and strategic and quality programming.

  • Requires a familiarity with business process improvement policies, principles, methods, procedures, standards, measures and communication systems.

  • Requires experience to become familiar with the systems involved in supporting the business, including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PowerBI.

  • Strong understanding of Supply Chain and/or Bruce Power business operations, including cross-functional dependencies, organizational accountabilities, and information networks, with the ability to drive and sustain process improvements across the organization.
