Description

Clio is the global leader in legal AI technology, empowering legal professionals and law firms of every size to work smarter, faster, and more securely.

We are transforming the legal experience for all by bettering the lives of legal professionals while increasing access to justice.

Summary:

As the Senior Product Manager for France Market Expansion at Clio, you will lead the vision, strategy, and roadmap execution of solutions that help Clio successfully expand into the French market. You will own the end to end product portfolio and customer experience for France, balancing global scale with local nuance. This role sits at the intersection of product execution and regional partnership, and it suits someone who thrives in complexity, builds for diverse users, and gets into the weeds.

Our market opportunity is rare in its scale and powered by a strong business model, first-rate investors and advisors, and a global product management team (if we do say so ourselves). Clio is growing rapidly, and Product Managers here grow their scope as we open new markets.

Speaking of Product at Clio, we have worked hard to develop an excellent product management culture with empowered PMs who carry real influence across the organization. Our team brings together seasoned professionals from a diverse set of product backgrounds. Clio invests heavily in developing Product Managers, growing leaders, and in the broader Product communities in which we operate.

What you'll work on:

As a Senior Product Manager, and in conjunction with your Development and Design counterparts (your triad), you will drive successful outputs and outcomes across Clio's portfolio in France.

End to End Portfolio Ownership:

  • You own Clio's product portfolio and customer experience in France end to end, from first touch through onboarding, daily practice management, billing, and support. Where a gap sits in a product another team owns, you own getting it closed.

  • You are accountable for the quality of Clio's customer experience in France as a whole, rather than for a single feature area. Your measure of success is whether a lawyer in France can run their practice on Clio without hitting a wall that a lawyer in North America would not hit.

  • You maintain a single, current view of what breaks today, what is missing, and what we have committed for France, and you make that view legible to leadership before leadership asks for it.

Product Leadership and Execution:

  • Working from the overarching strategy set by your Senior Director, Product Management, you will develop a roadmap in conjunction with your peers that moves our business forward, and evangelize it throughout the company.

  • You will own the delivery of features in the roadmap while also ensuring they deliver on the desired business outcome.

  • Drive product readiness for the French market, including localization, multi-lingual support, regulatory requirements, and market-specific workflows.

Speed and Iteration Toward a Clear Vision:

  • You set a clear vision for what Clio looks like in France, then ship toward it in weeks rather than quarters. We expect a first customer-visible change within your first 90 days.

  • You will make decisions with imperfect information, put something in front of customers, and correct from what you learn. We aim to validate with real customers before building at scale, however there are scenarios where a regulatory deadline sets the date. In those cases we will commit to the date and narrow the scope rather than move the date.

  • You parallelize. When a workstream can run alongside another, you run it alongside, and you say what serializing would cost in weeks when you choose to serialize.

Local Legal Market Understanding:

  • You understand how lawyers in France actually work: how French civil law shapes a firm's structure, how matters progress through the local courts, how the profession sets and regulates fees, what the Conseil National des Barreaux and the local Ordres require of a practitioner, and where local practice diverges from common law practice.

  • You track the regulatory surface that touches our product, including French electronic invoicing under the Factur-X and PDP regime, TVA, and Conseil National des Barreaux professional rules, and you translate it into requirements our central teams can build against.

  • You build and maintain direct relationships with practitioners, bar associations, and local partners, and you serve as the company's source of truth on what the French legal profession needs.

System Design and Technical Fluency:

  • You can read and reason about how we built our platform: where our data models carry a country assumption, how the model represents currency, tax, payments, and locale, and what a change to one of those costs downstream.

  • You can hold a design discussion with engineering about cardinality, extensibility, and migration, and leave with a shared decision.

  • You can tell a problem that needs a local configuration from a problem that needs a platform capability, and you argue for the platform capability when it is the right answer.

AI Native Working Style:

  • You work AI-first by default. You use AI for customer research synthesis, competitive and regulatory analysis, requirements drafting, data querying, and prototyping, and you can show how it changed your throughput.

  • You build your own working systems. You are comfortable writing prompts, chaining tools, and standing up a lightweight agent or script to remove repetitive work from your week.

  • You bring judgment to it. You know which AI output needs verification against a primary source, particularly on regulatory and legal questions, and you verify it.

Influencing Central Teams:

  • Central teams build the platform that France depends on, and their leadership sets their goals, metrics, and roadmap without France in them. Your job is to quantify the case for France well enough that it wins a place on that roadmap.

  • You will build the business case in the currency that team's leadership measures it on, name the tradeoff you are asking them to make, and find the version of the ask that serves their goal alongside yours.

  • You escalate on a stated trigger rather than on frustration. When merit alone does not win the ask, you bring your Senior Director a clear recommendation and the cost of inaction.

Cross-Functional Partnership:

  • Partner closely with cross-functional leaders across Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Legal, and Operations to support the French market launch and growth.

  • Manage stakeholder relationships across a matrixed organization with clarity and diplomacy.

What you bring:

  • Fluency in French and in English. Clio operates in English, so English fluency is a requirement of the role rather than a preference.

  • 4-5 years of experience in product management

  • Working knowledge of the French legal market, including French civil law, how local firms operate, and the regulatory requirements that apply to them

  • Proven track record of independently taking multiple products or features from ideation to launch in a SaaS environment

  • Experience owning a product area end to end, including outcomes that depended on teams outside your own

  • Demonstrated expertise in localization and multi-lingual product development. This is a core requirement for the role.

  • Experience building or managing multilingual applications or internationalization projects, and expanding products to other countries and languages

  • Technical fluency sufficient to reason about system design, data models, and platform tradeoffs with engineering

  • A demonstrated AI-native working style, with specific examples of how you use AI in your product practice

  • Evidence of winning roadmap commitments from teams that do not report to you and that carry no accountability for your outcome

  • Exceptional attention to detail, so that no requirement or specification slips through the product development cycle

  • Outstanding organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously without compromising quality or timelines

  • Experience using data to inform decisions without succumbing to analysis paralysis

  • Genuine ability to put yourself in our customers' shoes and operate from a place of empathy

  • Experience working across time zones and cultures, with a customer-first approach

  • An entrepreneurial mindset with comfort operating in ambiguity

  • At least 2 or 3 failures under your belt, the learnings of which you can bring to Clio

  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative team without ego

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Serious bonus points if you:

  • Have prior experience in legal tech, or a strong understanding of the legal services market, including familiarity with legal practice management software and the needs of legal professionals

  • Have worked directly with Conseil National des Barreaux and the local Ordres or comparable professional bodies

  • Worked previously in a regulated industry or with multi-product ecosystems

  • Have shipped against a regulatory deadline in France or another EU market

  • Successfully launched products in global markets

  • Have a track record of breaking down objectives into initiatives and delivering to customers at scale

  • Have built internal tooling or agents to support your own product practice

  • Demonstrable experience self-serving answers, insights, and data from a variety of data analytics tools
