Role description:
At Arcadis, we deliver sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets. With a growing portfolio of high-profile programmes across the UK, we're looking for an experienced Associate / Commercial Director (PMCM) to join our Birmingham team and play a key role in leading commercial excellence across complex projects and programmes.
This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished commercial leader to influence project outcomes, develop high-performing teams, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to the continued growth of our Project and Commercial Management business.
Role accountabilities:
As an Associate / Commercial Director, you will lead the delivery of commercial and cost management services across major projects, ensuring successful outcomes for clients while driving performance, innovation, and growth.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading commercial and cost management commissions from inception through to completion.
- Managing and developing high-performing teams, providing coaching, mentoring, and technical leadership.
- Overseeing project financial performance, commercial strategy, budgets, forecasting, and resource planning.
- Acting as a trusted advisor to clients and senior stakeholders, understanding their objectives and delivering commercially sound solutions.
- Providing strategic commercial guidance across complex programmes and projects.
- Ensuring compliance with contract requirements, governance processes, and quality standards.
- Identifying opportunities to improve service delivery, drive innovation, and enhance commercial performance.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships that support repeat business and growth opportunities.
- Supporting business development activities, bids, and pursuits within the Birmingham market and across the wider business.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree qualified or equivalent experience.
- Chartered status with a relevant professional body, or working towards.
- Relevant professional commercial/cost management qualifications.
- CSCS card holder (preferred).
- Significant experience in commercial, cost, or programme management environments, specifically in Highways, Aviation or Rail industries
- A proven track record delivering medium to large-scale projects across the full project lifecycle.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and developing talent.
- Strong client engagement skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and build long-term relationships.
- Excellent commercial acumen and the ability to manage complex project financials.
- Experience working within major infrastructure, property, transport, utilities, or construction sectors.
- A passion for delivering high-quality outcomes while driving innovation and continuous improvement.
