The Senior Designer will support project teams with varying degrees of direct and indirect project responsibilities while utilizing a fully developed knowledgebase of the telecommunications site development process. Project work will focus on new site development of macro and small cell sites, the modification of existing telecommunications facilities, fiber optic networks, and other project types as required. Direct project responsibilities will focus on the production and accuracy of design drawings. Indirect project responsibilities will support the internal NB+C manager with the day-to-day management of the design team and will include mentorship and training.

Responsibilities:

• Efficiently produce high-quality and accurate structural/civil/fiber engineering drawings using AutoCAD for fiber optic builds
• Develop functional and feasible designs in collaboration with engineers 
• Strong fiber design background and experience, both aerial and underground. 
• In office weekly 
• Produce drawings in accordance with NB+C CAD standards 
• Track assigned tasks and prioritize according to NB+C manager directives 
• Review junior designers’ work and provide feedback and quality control 
• Read and analyze blueprints, structural building drawings, construction drawings, and plans 
• Perform right-of-way and utility research 
• Learn new telecommunications equipment and client specific equipment 
• Learn conduit design from client-specific standards 
• Learn fiber optic specifications, equipment, and usage 
• Learn splicing specifications from client-specific standards 
• Learn and produce site specific traffic control plans 
• Create underground utility profiles for proposed conduit paths 
• Understand construction methods best practices 
• Work with outside vendors on engineering items such as CAD production, field work, pole surveys, etc. 
• Train and assist junior designers on a site-by-site basis 
• Assist the NB+C manager with resource allocation and project assignments 
• Communicate clearly with internal NB+C personnel as necessary regarding daily tasks performed 
• Assist design team members through shared knowledge, training and mentorship associated with similar project responsibilities 
• Ability to adapt to new standards and design methods as NB+C branches out into more diverse projects 

Qualifications:

• B.S. civil/structural engineering, building construction, or technical degree preferred 
• 4+ years of experience with the production of engineering drawings
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite 
• Advanced skills and knowledge in design expertise and ability to upskill in new project types and scopes of work 
• Ability to handle complex design tasks autonomously without supervision required 
• Experience with the production of structural and/or civil engineering drawings for telecommunications new site builds, upgrades, and fiber optic networks (or similar site engineering drawings) required 
• Telecommunications and/or utility experience required 
• Ability to review and analyze site documentation and gather necessary information to complete the assignment 
• Ability to interpret existing building, tower, and other structural drawings 
• Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships across multiple disciplines within the organization
