Salary Range
Min: $70,000/year
Max: $75,000/year
This salary range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At NEU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.
Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Warehouse Manager to oversee the daily operations of our warehouse facility. This position is responsible for inventory control, import/export compliance, bonded cargo operations, employee supervision, customer communication, safety, operational efficiency, and the financial performance of warehouse operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in warehouse and logistics management, a thorough understanding of import/export procedures, and the leadership skills necessary to manage a fast-paced operation. The candidate will be a hands-on leader who can balance warehouse operations, regulatory compliance, customer service, employee management, inventory accuracy, safety, and financial performance while continuously identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the secure storage, handling, and regulatory compliance of imported goods.
- Ensure all warehouse operations comply with applicable local customs laws, regulations, and bonded cargo requirements.
- Review and verify the accuracy and completeness of import/export documents, customs declarations, cargo release forms, and related documentation before cargo movement.
- Manage all inventory control activities to ensure accurate stock levels and product accountability.
- Supervise receiving, storage, inventory movement, and shipping records through the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Conduct regular cycle counts and investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies to minimize losses, delays, and potential penalties.
- Lead and supervise warehouse supervisors, clerks, logistics associates, and other warehouse personnel.
- Provide employee training, coaching, performance management, and operational guidance.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound dock schedules with ocean and air freight arrivals to minimize congestion, delays, and cargo dwell time.
- Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs), including order accuracy, labor costs, dock-to-stock time, productivity, and other operational metrics.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and other applicable health and safety regulations.
- Continuously evaluate and improve warehouse workflows, processes, equipment utilization, and overall operational efficiency.
- Oversee the daily progress of customer shipments and maintain regular communication with customers regarding shipment status, delays, issues, and operational requirements.
- Develop, manage, and continuously improve warehouse safety procedures to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.
- Manage the financial performance of warehouse operations, including revenue, expenses, labor costs, cost control, budgeting, and profitability improvement.
- Identify operational risks and respond effectively to emergencies, service disruptions, and other warehouse-related issues.
- Work closely with transportation providers, freight forwarders, customs representatives, customers, and internal departments to ensure efficient cargo movement.
Qualifications
- Warehouse Management Experience: Proven experience in warehouse management, logistics, supply chain management, or a related operational leadership role.
- WMS & Inventory Control: Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), inventory management software, and inventory databases.
- Bonded Cargo Operations: Knowledge of bonded cargo handling procedures, customs requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Import/Export Knowledge: Strong understanding of ocean and air freight operations, transportation logistics, customs documentation, and import/export procedures.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, train, motivate, and manage warehouse teams.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with employees, customers, vendors, and business partners.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and calculations, as well as Microsoft Word.
- Warehouse Equipment: Knowledge of forklifts and other warehouse equipment and their safe operation.
- Language Skills: Conversational proficiency in both English and Spanish.
- Document Comprehension: Ability to accurately read, interpret, and understand import/export documents, customs documents, shipping records, and cargo-related paperwork.
- Safety Compliance: Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and applicable local workplace health and safety regulations.
- Process Improvement: Experience managing KPIs, controlling operational costs, improving workflows, and increasing productivity.
- Customer Service: Ability to effectively manage customer relationships and provide timely communication regarding shipment progress and operational issues.
- Risk Management: Ability to respond effectively to emergencies, resolve operational issues, and manage warehouse-related risks.
Organization Relationships
- This position will interact with branch colleagues, leadership staff, office personnel, and customers.
- Must be able to work with customers, vendors, and outside organizations
Work Environment
