We have an excellent opportunity available to join our School Engagement Team! Help us advance our mission of championing longer, healthier lives by engaging students, parents, school administrators and other supporters with the American Heart Association.
The Kids Heart Challenge and American Heart Challenge are school initiatives devoted to developing happy and healthy students through teaching valuable heart health lessons with the opportunity to make a difference in their community! The School Engagement Associate will support the Development team and participating schools throughout the assigned region with administrative support such as helping with email campaigns; scheduling and clerical coordination including scheduling recruitment and planning meetings with schools; data entry, donation processing and customer service.
Local travel may be required for on-site school support. Residence in the Western States region (Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington) is preferred for this hybrid position.
This temporary position is from October 2026 up through May 2027.

Responsibilities
- School Communication Plan Management: Coordinate and support the communication plans with all participating schools for two teams. Includes ensuring updates are made and that all schools regularly receive communication according to timelines.
- Website Coordination: Assist with password management, email permissions, and school webpages.
- Administrative Support: Upload and maintain school contact information, create labels and mail items/supplies, provide customer service by email and phone.
- Data Management: Maintain information in Salesforce (CRM), and Blackbaud schedule and complete activities, update notes, research and update contacts
- Fundraising Support: Assist fundraisers with meeting preparation and follow-up, schedule meetings with participating and prospective school contacts, support school assemblies, and help with materials and resources.
Qualifications
- 3 years minimum prior relevant work experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Ability to do daily local travel; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basis.
- Ability to work productively and efficiently from a home office and in the field consistent with the Association's flexible work arrangements policy.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate proactively.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, "we can do this" environment.
- This position demands extensive data management, requiring the continuous updating of account information within our CRM databases; Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to efficiently manage and report on data using CRMs are essential.
- Ability to lift and/or move large objects (such as boxes) with the expectation that heavier items would be broken down into smaller components or requesting additional assistance may be required before lifting and/or moving.
- Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours, including early mornings and evenings, to effectively engage with schools and manage events.
Compensation & Benefits
Expected pay range will be $23.00 per hour to $26.00 per hour. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
