LACO Technologies is seeking a Service Technician /Helium Leak Detectors & Vacuum Pump Repair to diagnose, service, repair, rebuild, and overhaul helium leak detectors, vacuum pumps, and related instrumentation. This equipment supports customers in aerospace, automotive, medical, pharmaceutical, and other technology-driven industries.

This role is ideal for a hands-on electromechanical technician who enjoys diagnosing equipment problems, rebuilding mechanical components, working independently, and providing knowledgeable technical support to customers and internal teams.

What You'll Do

• Diagnose, repair, rebuild, and overhaul vacuum pumps, helium leak detectors, and related equipment
• Disassemble, clean, inspect, measure, and reassemble pump components
• Identify worn or damaged components, including seals, bearings, valves, gaskets, and mechanical assemblies
• Perform preventive maintenance and functional testing on repaired equipment
• Troubleshoot vacuum, mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, electronic, and electromechanical systems
• Use hand tools, precision measuring tools, electronic test equipment, schematics, and wiring diagrams
• Maintain equipment used in LACO’s rental fleet, calibration lab, service operations, and assembly areas
• Document repairs, parts used, test results, and completed service work
• Provide technical support and equipment guidance to customers and internal teams

Requirements

What We're Looking For

• 3 to 5 years of related experience in equipment service, maintenance, mechanical repair, pump repair, or another hands-on technical field
• Experience servicing or rebuilding vacuum pumps, compressors, industrial pumps, motors, or similar rotating equipment is strongly preferred
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience disassembling, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling equipment
• Ability to recognize component wear, contamination, damaged seals, bearing issues, and other mechanical problems
• Experience using hand tools, torque tools, precision measuring instruments, and electronic test equipment
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, mechanical drawings, electronic schematics, and wiring diagrams
• Experience troubleshooting electromechanical instrumentation or industrial equipment
• Experience completing service documentation, repair records, and service logs
• Strong organization, communication, and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Technical certification or post-high-school training in electronics, industrial maintenance, automotive or diesel technology, machining, mechanics, or a related field is preferred
• Vacuum technology and helium leak testing experience is helpful, but not required

What Success Looks Like (90/6/12)

• First 90 days: Learn LACO’s service processes, safety expectations, documentation standards, product basics, and vacuum pump repair procedures
• By 6 months: Independently perform common diagnostics, preventive maintenance, pump rebuilds, equipment repairs, and functional testing with accurate documentation
• By 12 months: Reliably handle a broad range of leak detector and vacuum pump service work and serve as a trusted technical resource for customers and internal teams

Schedule & Location

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40-hour workweek, with some start and stop time flexibility and the option to participate in the 9/80 schedule
