Essential Duties
- Creates programming for non-credit lifelong learning classes, Encore, and Kids Kollege using surveys to identify community needs and interests.
- Develops departmental marketing plans and creates effective marketing and outreach materials for Community Learning Center non-credit (CLC), Encore, Kids Kollege, and Center for Workforce Development (CWD) classes for both face-to-face and online classes, including both electronic and print materials.
- Coordinates the development of Lifelong Learning portions of course schedules. Oversees departmental events such as the Encore Birthday and scholarship events with the San Juan College Foundation.
- Supervises assigned employees. Participates in recruitment, selection, onboarding, performance management, and employee development in accordance with College policies and under the direction of the Director.
- Ensures a smooth transition to the Continuing Education Operations Team for class implementation, aligned with policies and procedures.
- Recruits and interviews potential instructors and, in coordination with other staff, schedules classes and assigns instructors. Works with HR to hire and onboard new Adjunct Faculty.
- Supervises the Kids Kollege Coordinator, who is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and implementation of the Kids Kollege program and camps; provides guidance and support as needed.·
- Develops schedules, and directs the work of part-time instructors; assists with development of part-time employee handbooks and orientations.
- Creates vibrant online marketing presence through effective use of departmental website, social media, and email marketing, following all protocol and guidelines from Marketing and Public Relations.
- Supports coordination of volunteer services, including Board Basics classes and volunteers on campus including coordinating with HR for document needs.
- Oversees marketing supporting other units in the department to include other workforce-related programs and projects.
- Oversees projects and new initiatives in marketing, programming, and events promptly with clear objectives, goals and timelines.
- Participates in community programs on behalf of San Juan College, representing SJC and directing expected community partner tasks as approved.
- Represents the college to students, outside agencies, and community partners and colleges, including departmental Advisory Committees, demonstrating cultural competency, diversity, and inclusivity.
- Plans annual enrollment goals, marketing plans and budgets; monitors progress on goals and takes necessary actions to achieve goals for Lifelong Learning operations.
- Serves on college committees and work groups.
- Coordinates Encore Advisory Committee and student club activities.
- Participates in continuing education professional development.
- Performs related duties.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a Bachelor’s degree and/or higher education and/or workforce development, program management or related experience.
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience.
