Part-Time Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Day Shift

Hickman County, TN | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (hours will vary, must be flexible)

Progressive Directions, Inc. (PDI) is hiring a dependable and compassionate Part-Time Direct Support Professional (DSP) for our 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM day shift in Hickman County. This position requires flexibility. While the primary shift is between the hours of 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, applicants must be willing to be flexible with scheduling when needed, including weekends, holidays, and occasional additional coverage. Reliable attendance is essential. The people we support depend on their DSPs being present and ready to work their scheduled shifts.

What You'll Do

As a DSP, you'll support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities with their everyday needs while encouraging independence, choice, and community involvement.

Responsibilities may include:

• Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene
• Preparing meals, grocery shopping, and completing household tasks
• Administering medications according to agency policy and training
• Following Individual Support Plans (ISPs)
• Completing daily documentation and medication records
• Providing transportation to appointments, activities, and community outings
• Supporting individuals in making choices and building independence
• Communicating changes or concerns to supervisors and team members
• Maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive home environment

Requirements

What We're Looking For

We need someone who is dependable, patient, respectful, flexible, and comfortable working independently.

Requirements

• Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred, but not required
• PHS and Therap experience is a plus
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Valid unrestricted driver's license
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
• Ability to safely transport persons supported as required
• Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions
• Effective written communication and documentation skills
• Satisfactory criminal background and required registry checks
• Negative pre-employment drug screen
• Ability to successfully complete all required training
• Must be dependable and report to scheduled shifts on time
• Must have flexibility to assist with staffing needs when necessary

Physical Requirements

Applicants must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and reaching; assisting individuals with daily living and mobility needs; lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds or more when required by the position; and driving and transporting persons supported.
