The University of Miami College of Arts and Sciences has an exciting opportunity for a temporary part time Outreach Specialist to work in Coral Gables, FL.
The Outreach Specialist 1 supports in developing and implementing new and existing public education and outreach programs serving as a liaison to the community. Moreover, the incumbent performs a wide variety of duties and demonstrates a high level of professionalism and effectiveness.
The NHBS Interviewer/HIV Counselor is responsible for screening participants, conducting interviews using notebook computers, providing appropriate referrals to participants, and providing HIV counseling and testing. The NHBS Interviewer/HIV counselor will be available, if necessary, outside of normal working hours.
Core responsibilities:
- Supports in the development and implementation of public education and outreach programs.
- Works with community-based organizations to plan promotional educational and other events targeted towards designing an increased awareness in the community.
- Aids with the preparation and distribution of public health education and navigation manuals.
- Develops professional relationships with mental health providers, researchers, and community members.
- Collaborates with other members of the team on special projects and events.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Core Qualifications:
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required. Experience with outreach/HIV counseling among target population preferred.
- Florida HIV Counseling Certification preferred.
- Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
- Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
