Director, VAT UK & Europe (London)

What is the opportunity?

 

Reporting to the Managing Director - Head of Transfer Pricing and VAT Europe, you will be responsible for VAT across the UK and Europe, managing the BAU E2E processes and directing the change and transformation agenda.

 

This is a full-time permanent role requiring 4 days a week in our 100 Bishopsgate, London office.

 

 

What will you do?

 

·        Develop and lead a VAT advisory programme across UK and Europe, partnering the business and EY to ensure there is excellent VAT support for all stakeholders including Finance across BAU, change projects and corporate development making efficient use of AI and Management Information tools to track and manage outcomes

·        Direct the VAT requirements for all transformation projects that impact UK and Europe

·        Manage the VAT compliance across UK and Europe with a focus on automation, data analytics and Management Information, using this information to deliver a risk-based approach to VAT risk and target VAT costs

·        Develop and proactively maintain excellent governance and controls over all VAT processes across the UK and Europe ensuring full compliance with Tax authorities and internal and external auditors

·        Work closely with the Transfer Pricing team to ensure there is no VAT leakage on Transfer Pricing arrangements

·        Manage the relationship with the UK and European tax authorities.

 

 

 

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

 

·        Strong in-house experience leading a VAT function within a bank across UK and Europe

·        Proven success at leading VAT initiatives across Europe

·        Focus on data analytics and use of AI tools to improve efficiency

·        Experience of reporting to Senior Leaders

·        Ability to prioritise goals and objectives and drive shareholder value

·        Qualified tax advisor

·        Good Excel skills.

 

Nice-to-have

 

·        Experience of advising on an E-invoicing solution across Europe

·        Accountancy qualification

·        Excellent Excel skills.
