About the role

This role will be responsible for Airside Product development(AHU / FCU / CRAH / CRAC / Fan-wall products), Product engineering, New product development programs.

Key Job deliverables

  • Lead design and development of new airside products and platform enhancements.

  • Develop product concepts, layouts, detailed designs, and engineering documentation.

  • Translate customer and business requirements into engineering specifications.

  • Own product engineering deliverables throughout the product development lifecycle.

  • Engineering Design : Perform engineering calculations related to Airflow, Pressure drop, Fan selection, Acoustic performance, Coil Design, Structural integrity. Create and review: GA drawings, Manufacturing drawings, BOMs, Design documents, Technical specifications, ETOs, Value engineering

  • Cross Functional Collaboration : Work with Sales, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Quality, Product Management, Lab teams, Global Engineering teams. Support factory launch and production readiness activities.

  • Strong technical know-how and ownership in data center/non-DC  airside cooling products  

EDUCATION & EXPERINCE PREFERRED:

Bachelors / Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

10- 15 years Experience in HVAC product design and development Airside products (AHU / FCU / CRAH / CRAC / Fan-wall products), Product engineering, New product development programs

Essential Competencies/ Primary Skill Set:

 

1. Airside Engineering & HVAC Expertise

  • Strong technical knowledge of airside products including AHU, FCU, CRAH, CRAC, fan-wall, ducted and related HVAC systems.

  • Sound understanding of airflow dynamics, pressure drop calculations, fan selection, heat transfer, psychrometrics, IAQ and thermal performance.

  • Ability to perform engineering analysis and optimize product performance, efficiency and reliability.

  • Knowledge of data center airside cooling applications and high-density cooling requirements is preferred.

2. Product Development & System Engineering

  • Hands-on experience in new product development from concept through production release.

  • Strong understanding of stage-gate / NPD processes and engineering design methodologies.

  • Ability to translate customer requirements into product specifications and engineering deliverables.

  • Experience in product architecture definition, design reviews, prototype development and product validation.

3. Mechanical Design & Engineering Analysis

  • Experience in airside product design, component selection and engineering calculations.

  • Ability to perform airflow, fan performance, pressure drop and thermal analysis.

  • Understanding of product performance optimization, design robustness and reliability requirements.

  • Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for cost principles.

4. Product Validation & Testing

  • Experience in developing validation plans and supporting product qualification activities.

  • Ability to analyze test data, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

  • Knowledge of product performance testing, reliability testing and engineering problem solving.

  • Strong focus on delivering quality and first-pass validation success.

5. Compliance & Regulatory Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of relevant HVAC industry standards such as AHRI, ASHRAE and ISO.

  • Understanding of product certification, compliance requirements and design verification processes.

  • Ability to ensure engineering designs comply with applicable regulations and customer specifications.

6. Design Tools & Digital Engineering

  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, Inventor or equivalent platforms.

  • Experience with AutoCAD, BOM management and PLM systems.

  • Ability to create and review engineering drawings, specifications and product documentation.

  • Familiarity with engineering databases and product configuration tools.

7. Program Execution & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Ability to manage multiple engineering activities and deliver to committed timelines.

  • Strong collaboration skills while working with manufacturing, sourcing, quality, laboratory and product management teams.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

  • Ability to work effectively in a global engineering environment.

 

Desirable Competencies/ Secondary Skill Set:

 

1. Data Center Cooling Applications

  • Experience in Data Center AHU, CRAH, fan-wall systems and mission-critical cooling solutions.

  • Understanding of containment strategies, redundancy concepts and high-density cooling applications.

  • Exposure to hyperscale and colocation data center cooling requirements.

2. Advanced Engineering & Simulation Tools

  • Knowledge of CFD analysis for airflow and thermal optimization.

  • Exposure to FEA analysis for structural assessment and product durability.

  • Familiarity with engineering simulation and virtual validation tools.

3. Cost Optimization & Localization

  • Experience in value engineering, cost reduction and product localization initiatives.

  • Understanding of supplier selection, alternate components and cost-driven design decisions.

  • Ability to support regional product competitiveness through localization activities.

4. Manufacturing & Industrialization Support

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes related to airside products.

  • Exposure to factory launch activities, pilot builds and production readiness assessments.

  • Experience supporting smooth transition from development to manufacturing.

5. Controls & System Integration

  • Basic understanding of HVAC controls, sensors and system integration requirements.

  • Familiarity with product selection tools and digital product configuration platforms.

  • Understanding of connected and intelligent HVAC solutions is desirable.

6. Continuous Improvement & Certifications

  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma or structured problem-solving methodologies.

  • Professional certifications such as Six Sigma Green Belt, PMP or equivalent are desirable.

  • Participation in technical forums, professional bodies or industry standards activities is an added advantage.

7. Customer & Market Orientation

  • Understanding of customer requirements and application engineering concepts.

  • Ability to support technical discussions with customers, consultants and internal stakeholders.

  • Awareness of market trends, competitor offerings and emerging technologies in the airside industry.
