Are you a detail-driven Pharmacy Technician ready to make a real difference in patients' lives from the very first interaction? Banner Home Health is looking for an experienced, self-motivated Pharmacy Tech to step into a brand-new, one-of-a-kind role where your expertise truly matters! In this exciting position, you'll serve as one of the first points of contact for new home health patients — conducting thorough medication histories, reviewing charts, and collaborating with pharmacies and physicians to ensure every patient's care journey starts safely and seamlessly. You'll work across two dynamic systems — Cerner and Home Care Home Base — and connect with up to 10–15 patients daily, making a meaningful impact each and every shift. SCHEDULE:
- Full Time / 40 Hours per week
- Monday through Friday
- 8:00am-5:00pm
POSITION SUMMARY
This position will prepare, dispense, and compound medication under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Provide prescription support services for patients to ensure safe, appropriate, effective and efficient delivery of medication therapy. Provide excellent customer service skills, high attention to detail, strong problem solving, documentation and computer skills. Work closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to support pharmaceutical care activities, complete pharmacy billing activities, record keeping, reporting, inventory management, and arrange appropriate medication delivery.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, review and interpret prescriptions.
2. Prepare and dispense appropriate amount of medication under supervision of a pharmacist. Deliver medications accurately to the patient.
3. Answer phones, accept prescriptions, and may communicate with patients in waiting area.
4. Assist with inventory, maintain a clean work environment, and assist with any other administrative duties as assigned by supervising pharmacists or senior technicians.
5. Follow policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements and perform other work assignment.
May require periodic to frequent use of personal computer.
Off-site travel may be required.
This is not a safety sensitive position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires Pharmacy Technician licensure and active Pharmacy Technician certification OR Pharmacy Intern licensure in the state of practice.
Incumbents in Arizona are also required to provide the AZ Board of Pharmacy Wallet Card at time of hire.
Minimal experience, typically gained through 0-2 years relevant work experience. Ability to attend and successfully complete 160 hours of on the job training required. Strong customer service focus, superior problem-solving abilities. Ability to complete moderate to difficult mathematical calculations using a hand-held calculator is required.
BSS Registry Team members and Travelers are not eligible to drive on behalf of Banner and are not required to possess a valid driver’s license or be eligible for coverage under the company’s auto insurance policy.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associates or bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Proficiency and experience with third party claims adjudication and claims rejection reconciliation preferred. Proficiency and experience with non-sterile, sterile and hazardous drug compounding preferred. Work experience which demonstrates analytical ability, judgment and interpersonal skills in pharmacy or healthcare preferred. Experience and proficiency with computer software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) or comparable program.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
