Reporting directly to the Director, Enterprise Operational Risk Management, the Manager will play a key role in advancing Enterprise Operational Risk Management capabilities across OMERS.

Working closely with the Director, this position will assist in the development, coordination and facilitation of risk deliverables through the Senior Vice President Enterprise Operational Risk Management, the Chief Risk Officer, and applicable Management and Board committees.

You will be responsible for:

Risk Identification, Assessment, Measurement and Monitoring:

  • Assist in the ongoing identification, assessment, measurement, and monitoring of key and emerging operational risks, including those surfaced through the incident escalation process
  • Manage the incident escalation process, including root cause analysis and partnering with the business to identify opportunities
  • Identify opportunities to develop and continually enhance operational risk management methodologies, policies, processes, and tools
  • Manage policy exception and breach process for policies owned by the team
  • Facilitate project and change risk assessments on key strategic initiatives and projects and provide risk oversight on significant projects
  • Coordinate and assist in the development of Key Risk Indicators, including data gathering capabilities, analysis, and reporting
  • Develop annual plans to support the teams strategic objectives and oversee execution to ensure successful completion
  • Develop and manage an approach for tracking open items or areas for further consideration to ensure these items are addressed

Reporting:

  • Manage reporting timelines and requirements, and actively participate in the enterprise-wide risk reporting process
  • Lead data and information gathering efforts to support enterprise-wise risk reporting, and coordinate meetings with key stakeholders
  • Oversee the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tool to manage risk data, including supporting the creation of new modules and reports, and supporting end users – experience with Resolver Core is considered an asset
  • Assist in the preparation of Senior Leadership Team, Management Committee, and Board Committee reporting

Partnership & Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships internally as well as with external advisors, subject-matter experts, pension peers, vendors, and other external stakeholders
  • Facilitate ongoing communication and information sharing among OMERS Compliance, Internal Audit, and other risk management functions
  • Support the BCP Team in identifying and assessing the business continuity requirements for OMERS Business Units by participating in the business impact analysis process

Required Skills & Experience:

Compliance, Risk & Operational Leadership

  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant work and management experience in Operations, Compliance, Internal Audit, Risk, or a related function within financial services or consulting.
  • Experience leading teams and driving operational effectiveness in a regulated environment.

Data Analytics & Reporting

  • Experience managing data and applying strong analytical skills to generate actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Ability to prepare reporting and presentations for Management and the Board.
  • Ability to communicate complex information in a clear, concise, and structured manner.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop trusted, collaborative relationships across a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to influence and engage stakeholders at various levels of the organization.

Organization, Technology & Business Tools

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and assignments concurrently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint), Adobe Acrobat, AI-powered assistants, GRC tools, and other business technologies.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

Professional Qualifications

  • CPA designation, MBA, or equivalent professional credential is considered an asset.

Project & Program Management

  • Project management experience with the ability to coordinate, schedule, and manage key deliverables across multiple stakeholders and teams.

Technology & GRC Systems

  • Experience with Resolver Core or other Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platforms is considered an asset.

The expected salary range for this position is $103,000.00 - $157,000.00 per year, prorated based on the term of the contract.
