Annual Salary: $49,284
Work Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30 am-5:00 pm
Help Individuals Find Stability Through Housing
The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) is seeking a compassionate Housing Stabilization Specialist to help adults with mental health, developmental disabilities, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions obtain and maintain safe, stable housing.
In this rewarding role, you will partner with individuals who who are homeless, have past incarcerations, may live in group homes, and/or have frequent psychiatric hospitalizations. Your work will empower clients to achieve greater independence while improving their quality of life.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Services such as Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or Counseling.
- One (1) year case management experience including housing resource for adults with mental health, developmental disabilities, substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders.
What You'll Do
As a Housing Stabilization Specialist, you will provide case management and housing support services that promote long-term housing success.
Responsibilities include:
- Assess clients' housing needs and develop individualized housing stabilization plans.
- Assist individuals in locating, securing, and maintaining safe and affordable housing.
- Conduct home and community visits to monitor housing stability and provide ongoing support.
- Teach independent living skills, including budgeting, tenant responsibilities, and accessing community resources.
- Coordinate services with landlords, property managers, behavioral health providers, social service agencies, and community partners.
- Maintain accurate documentation, service plans, and progress notes in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Advocate for clients while helping them overcome barriers to housing and community integration.
