Schedule: Monday thru Friday

Hours: 5:00 pm – 1:00 AM

Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

Position Summary:

• Monitor Hatchery and equipment; prepare hatchery for processors to perform duties; clean and sanitize hatchery areas and equipment as specified. Other duties may be assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitors building and surrounding grounds for unauthorized entry, vandalism, safety hazards (25%)
• Inspects and monitors equipment (inside/outside) for proper operation (25%)
• Manually records temperature and humidity readings. Monitors formaldehyde per schedule. (10%)
• Places eggs in incubator. Pedigree egg check and inventory on Saturday. (10%)
• Fumigates specified areas of the facility as required (10%)
• Prepares Hatchery for processors by: chick room set up, placing wing bands on tables and mats on floors, set up of chick boxes and scales (10%) 

Other duties, responsibilities and activities:

• Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as; clean incinerators; perform janitorial ; monitor operation of generator during power failure; maintains foot pans and hand sanitizer; assist with egg sets as needed. 10%)
• Respirator certification is required and maintained by testing on an annual basis. Must be willing to achieve and maintain a respirator certification: TM’s must remain clean shaven during all scheduled work hours.

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare/Safety Requirements:

• The jobsite is a bio secure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility.  Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company.  No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Physical:  Must use safe lifting techniques.  Must regularly lift and/or move, up to 40 pounds to move items such as tray of eggs, etc.; tools, such as wheeled buggy, may be required to occasionally move up to 500 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; stoop/bend;; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
• Tools and Equipment:
• Environment:  Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also work in hot, dry, dusty, wet, icy, snowy and cold environments.
• Personal Protective Equipment Required:  Safety goggles, safety glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and company issued footwear are required.  Ear plugs will be used as required.   NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed.  Must be able to pass respirator fit test.
• Chemicals Commonly Used:  Disinfectants such as Synergize, Virocid, Clorox wipes, Lysol, Formaldehyde, Chlorofoam, Acid-a-foam, bleach, hand sanitizer, TEK, PI 1200, PI 2100, Comet, PineSol and etc..
• Safety: Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. Team member is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.
