Senior Geologist / Environmental Scientist
Broadbent & Associates, Inc. is seeking a Senior Geologist to manage environmental projects in Nevada. This position combines technical expertise, regulatory coordination, project management, staff development, and client service.
The successful candidate will manage projects from initial scoping through investigation, remediation, regulatory closure, and closeout. Primary responsibilities will include petroleum release investigations, Underground Storage Tank (UST) sites, Petroleum Fund projects, Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), evaluation of environmental data relative to regulatory requirements, preparation and review of clear, technically sound project reports, and mentoring junior project managers.

Primary Responsibilities
- Manage environmental assessment, investigation, and remediation projects from proposal development through regulatory closure.
- Prepare project scopes, proposals, cost estimates, work plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Manage Nevada petroleum release and UST projects, including projects eligible for Petroleum Fund reimbursement.
- Prepare and review Petroleum Fund cost estimates, reimbursement packages, change order requests, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with NDEP, clients, property owners, laboratories, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Plan and oversee soil, groundwater, soil gas, and other environmental investigations.
- Evaluate geological, hydrogeological, and analytical data to define the nature and extent of contamination and support corrective action decisions.
- Prepare and review investigation reports, corrective action plans, remediation work plans, monitoring reports, regulatory correspondence, and closure requests.
- Develop and refine conceptual site models (CSMs) using site history, field observations, analytical results, geology, hydrogeology, and contaminant distribution.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, invoicing, subcontractors, and deliverables.
- Serve as a primary client contact and communicate project status, findings, regulatory requirements, and recommendations.
- Mentor junior staff and provide technical direction related to field activities, data evaluation, and report preparation.
- Support business development through client relationship management.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
- Current Nevada Certified Environmental Manager (CEM) preferred. Candidates licensed as a Professional Geologist (PG) or Registered Geologist (RG) must be eligible and willing to obtain a Nevada CEM within the first year of employment.
- Fifteen or more years of progressively responsible environmental consulting experience.
- Working knowledge of Nevada environmental regulations and experience coordinating with the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP).
- Experience developing project scopes, cost estimates, proposals, technical reports, schedules, budgets, and Nevada Petroleum Fund documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects while meeting scope, schedule, budget, and deliverable requirements.
- Strong technical writing, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to direct field personnel, laboratories, and subcontractors.
- Ability to travel within Nevada and surrounding areas with occasional overnight assignments.

Work Schedule
This is a full-time position with a typical Monday through Friday schedule. Periodic travel, overnight assignments, and field efforts may be required based on project needs.
