Technical Event & Personalisation Specialist (Merchlab)

As we continue to grow, we need more need top-tier talent to help us deliver fantastic events and installations. The Role: We are looking for a hands-on Technical Event & Personalisation Specialist to power our proprietary Merchlab live event printing software and hardware. Whether you are configuring Print or Engraving Bars for UK activations, or supporting remote setups for high-profile US events, you will be the crucial link between custom printing technology and flawless live execution. You will report to the Technical Director and work closely with Account Managers, the Operations team, software developers and event crews. You will help turn client requirements into practical technical solutions, coordinate event preparation and provide support throughout setup and live delivery. Key Responsibilities Technical Setup & Deployment: Set up, calibrate and test Merchlab software / hardware (touch screens, onboard PCs, various printers including sublimation, heat presses, and laser engravers). You’ll also manage network configurations and remote setups for US builds. Print & Personalisation Operations: Oversee live production hardware, ensuring optimal output and print quality across UV, inkjet, dye sublimation, vinyl cutting and heat press workflows (including flatbed, cap, and mug/bottle presses), as well as live laser engraving and other printing techniques. Pre-Event Artwork & Branding: Manage the branding of our event technology and Print Bars. You will receive artwork files from clients, carefully check them for accuracy against our templates, send them to our external print partners and track them to ensure they arrive on time to be applied by our operations team prior to the event. You will also check artwork to send off to our DTF and printed/embroided patch badge partners. Technical Account Support: Work closely with Account Managers to confirm print processes, production methods, software workflows, power, internet and space requirements, and resolve any issues before the event goes live. Live Event Technical Support: Provide active remote troubleshooting and technical support to event crews across operational hours (which may include evenings and weekends outside of standard UK office hours). Also oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the printers and laser engravers BackgroundWe welcome candidates from the live events industry, print production, garment customisation and promotional product finishing. We are also keen to hear from practical, technically minded people from other industries who have transferable skills and a willingness to learn. This could include 3D printing, digital fabrication, CNC, signage or technical production.Print & Design Experience: Knowledge of personalisation processes such as dye sublimation, UV, DTF, laser engraving and heat transfer pressing would be an advantage.Artwork and Print Preparation: Experience checking client artwork for accuracy, quality and suitability for production, preparing and managing print proofs, and coordinating with external suppliers for large-format and vinyl printing. You should be comfortable spotting potential issues and ensuring artwork is approved and ready before production begins.Technology and Hardware: Confidence working with Windows PCs and Macs, touchscreen interfaces, printers, CSS and event technology. You should be comfortable setting up equipment, preparing hardware, troubleshooting software and resolving technical issues in a live event environment.Learning and Problem-Solving: You do not need experience with every process or piece of technology. We are looking for someone who learns quickly, enjoys understanding how things work and can apply technical knowledge to unfamiliar challenges.RequirementsPractical experience in print, personalisation, digital fabrication, technical production, live events or a related field.Meticulous attention to detail when reviewing client artwork and design assets.Strong communication skills to guide non-technical event crews and experience hosts through remote US setups.Flexibility to cover event hours outside standard office hours.Valid UK driving licence and passport, and willingness to travel to event locations when needed.This is an office / production based role at our Markham Vale site in Chesterfield.
