Department Overview
Motorola Solutions is seeking a visionary leader with a distinguished background in the U.S. Department of Defense to serve as a Trusted Adviser to senior military leadership. You will act as the primary bridge between Motorola Solutions advanced technology portfolio and the evolving requirements of the U.S. Army, and National Guard. This is a high-impact role requiring the ability to orchestrate multi-disciplinary teams to solve complex communications, enterprise IT, land mobile radio, and Command & Control (C2) challenges across key customer organizations—including, but not limited to, the National Guard Bureau (NGB), State Adjutants General (TAGs), Office of the Provost Marshal General (OPMG), Base Emergency Communications System (BECS), Installation Management Command (IMCOM), 7th Signal Command, and Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM). The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and the ability to act as a capture manager for large US Army based procurements to include requirements development, price support and final contract negotiations.

Responsibilities:
General Officer & Executive Relationship Management: Build and maintain enduring partnerships at the SES, Adjutant General, and General Officer (O-7+) levels, ensuring Motorola is positioned as a strategic ally across NGB, State National Guard headquarters, OPMG, BECS, IMCOM, 7th Signal Command, NETCOM and various contract commands
Requirements Formulation: Leverage deep industry and military service experience to shape customer understanding of policy, state/federal budgeting, Title 10/Title 32 operations, and future requirements.
Strategic Orchestration: Lead extended, cross-functional teams to identify and quantify multi-million dollar business opportunities within the active Army, National Guard, and joint DoD enterprise.
Operational Advocacy: Clearly articulate Motorola’s value proposition and long-term strategies to senior Army and Guard leadership, helping them envision next-generation capabilities, interoperable mission-critical networks, and civil-support applications.
Resource Alignment: Allocate internal resources and collaborate with external partners to meet the strategic needs of key Army, National Guard, and joint accounts.
Market Expansion: Explore new active, reserve, and guard customer segments, articulating direct value propositions for key stakeholders and Motorola Solutions.
Be heavily involved in the implementation of LMR, CAD, NG911 projects to assure requirement alignment and act as the trusted adviser to the government.
Provide a strategic plan for the implementation of the MSI eco-system to include the integration of current technologies and the expansion of services.
Lead our service organization in defining and quoting all services relating to the Army CONUS Enterprise (ACE) network and future opportunities with CAD, NG911, NGCS and MWN
Provide leadership and mentorship to the AEs, MRs and reseller networks to advance the strategic goals of the Army and National Guard.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years of sales/public safety/military experience
OR 15+ years of sales/public safety/military experience
Military Leadership: A distinguished background within the Department of Defense, with a strong preference for candidates who have served in the U.S. Army or National Guard at the O-6 level or above.
Key Account Familiarity: Demonstrated success or direct experience engaging key stakeholders across the National Guard Bureau (NGB), State Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ-State), OPMG, BECS, IMCOM, 7th Signal Command, NETCOM, and associated PEOs/PMs.
Education & Years of Experience: Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years of sales, public safety, or military experience (or 15+ years of combined experience).
Proven Track Record: At least 10+ years of experience in high-level business development, operational leadership, or technical leadership roles within the DoD, National Guard, or Federal/State Law Enforcement sectors.
Financial Literacy: Mastery of US DoD and National Guard budget/procurement cycles (PPBE process, dual-status funding streams), with the ability to navigate complex funding landscapes.
Technical Acumen: Deep familiarity with LMR/RF communications, Land Mobile Radio/P25 interoperability, Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, and Command & Control (C2) platforms for defense support of civil authorities (DSCA) and tactical missions.
Communication: Exceptional writing and briefing skills, capable of influencing decisions at the highest levels of the Army, National Guard Bureau, and Department of Defense.
Sales Lifecycle Management: Demonstrated ability to oversee the entire sales process—from initiating high-level executive discussions to closing major strategic programs.
Collaborative Strategy: Proven success in developing and executing go-to-market strategies within highly collaborative, matrixed environments.
Digital Proficiency: Familiarity with modern productivity and CRM tools (Salesforce, Google Suite) is strongly desired.
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.
Travel: 50% of the time within Territory (primarily Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, but will cover North America)
Target Base Salary Range: $125,000 - $135,000 USD
On Target Earnings: $206,250 - $222,750 USD
