The Inventory Manager 1 is responsible for leading a team of material expeditors supporting the Integrated Mission Solutions Operating Unit. This leader will be responsible for ensuring the proper control and issuance of all inventory for the Warner Robins site. The Inventory Manager 1 oversees inventory activities inside the Warner Robins Distribution Center and Inventory Control Points and should have experience with receipt, stocking, issuing, and delivery of inventory and assets to repair and production lines. This leader will oversee the coordination and movement of component parts, material, hardware, and finished goods within the site while ensuring process and procedural compliance and safeguarding both personnel and product.

This impactful leader will ensure all inventory activities are executed throughout the campus in accordance with proper conformance standards. Determines methods and locations for storage, considering guidelines for temperature, humidity, weight or height limits, turnover, floor loading capacity, and required space. The Inventory Manager 1 will ensure that team members store inventory according to identifying factors; fill orders or issue supplies from stock; requisition stock to replenish stock levels at the Inventory Control Points; and prepare stock‑use reports. Proper cycle counting of material will be required, and this manager will be responsible for accurate inventory control that will be measured monthly.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monitor and manage inventory accuracy (cycle counting, root‑cause analysis of discrepancies, corrective actions) to maintain high system integrity.

  • Lead the coordination of material movement across warehouses and Inventory Control Points to support repair and production areas, optimizing flow and minimizing delays related to inventory availability.

  • Track and report key inventory KPIs (inventory turns, stockouts, on‑time delivery to request) and drive improvement plans.

  • Train and mentor inventory and warehouse personnel on material control disciplines and best practices.

  • Fulfill depot parts requests, including kitting, bench stock, tooling, hazardous materials, Sub Replacement Units (SRUs), and Line Replacement Units (LRUs), ensuring timely and accurate support to repair and production activities.

  • Support implementation and enhancement of inventory control tools (scanning, warehouse management, dashboards) to improve accuracy and visibility of inventory status.

  • Utilize MRP/GPD outputs in the ERP system (e.g., SAP S/4HANA) to plan and prioritize inventory actions, respond to exception messages, and align material availability with program and production requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures and applicable regulatory/quality requirements in all inventory operations.

  • Collaborate within a cross‑functional IPT to meet Operating Unit commitments.

  • Advise Program Management and Senior Material Operations Management on the status of work in progress, equipment availability, and potential material issues to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed.

  • Provide direction to all employees using established procedures; review all work for adequacy in meeting cost, schedule, and quality objectives.

  • Manage and communicate material risks and opportunities related to inventory.

  • Be ultimately responsible for inventory control, ensuring stock levels are maintained at appropriate material levels by coordinating the efficient movement of materials with Global Supply Chain.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of relevant experience, or 9 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities, as evidenced by prior experience leading a team, project, or in a supervisory role.

  • Experience in inventory control, stock transfer, parts kitting, packaging principles, and movement of items through the supply chain and production infrastructure.

  • Ability to manage departmental labor budgets, provide monthly labor forecasts, and provide input into proposal efforts.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).

  • U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands‑on Material Resource Planning (MRP) experience in SAP S/4HANA, including interpreting MRP and GPD‑related outputs to support project and production inventory needs.

  • General knowledge of FAR/DFARS and associated federal contracting regulations.

  • Minimum 7 years of inventory control, material stores, or supply chain experience.

  • Experience communicating, both written and verbal, with customers and senior management.

Primary Level Salary Range: $86,300.00 - $129,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
