The Opportunity:

The analyst provides administrative support, Japanese cultural analysis, and Japanese-English interpretation and translation services. Administrative support includes bilateral coordination, to include scheduling, travel, access, security verification, and other logistical support requests. As tasked, the analyst will organize and conduct preparatory sessions that includes a collection of related biographies, draft information papers and talking points, and assemble necessary background information. The analyst will conduct Japanese and American cultural analysis and provide guidance and advice to optimize bilateral understanding and communications in English and Japanese and facilitate U.S.-Japanese bilateral military efforts at the tactical and operational levels of military operations, including social events, community engagements events, key leader’s engagements in a variety of civil and military environments and settings to include media and press engagements, table-top discussion and wargames, military planning, and execution of exercises and operations. Attend joint, bilateral, or multinational planning conferences, working groups, and site surveys to provide linguist support to client attendees on the conduct of maritime operations. These events will occur in austere environments, on ships, and in aircraft, and include occasional evening and weekend work. Review, analyze, and translate letters, invitations, certificates, procedures, briefs, military planning documents, and a variety of other related documents as directed by the client.

You Have:

• 2+ years of experience with military operations and coordination with adjacent components and higher headquarters commands

• 2+ years of experience with translation and interpretation support with the military

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

• Knowledge of military organization and culture of joint U.S. Forces and partner allies in the U.S. Indo-Pacific Area of Operations

• Knowledge of a variety of Department of Defense networks for information gathering, including Non-classified Internet Protocol Router and Secret Internet Protocol Router, and CENTRIX

• Knowledge of the Japanese culture, including military organization and culture and how U.S. Forces interact and integrate with the Japan Self-Defense Forces, and the U.S.-Japan Alliance

• Ability to advise leadership on cultural matters to achieve military objectives

• Ability to speak, write, and read in the Japanese and English languages, including clearly communicating complex topics in both English and Japanese languages to senior military and civilian leaders and their respective staffs

• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

• HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have:

• Experience in translation and interpretation support for the military

• Knowledge of military terms for all branches of service and military organization and culture of the U.S. military, Japanese Self-Defense Force, and Joint Forces in the Indo-Pacific region, in English and Japanese

• Bachelor's degree in Japanese Language or Japanese Culture preferred

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $61,900.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
