Established in March 2007, Livent Lithium (Zhangjiagang) Co., Ltd. specializes in the production of organolithium compounds, which are widely used in synthetic rubber, pharmaceutical and other industrial applications, supporting markets with strong long-term growth potential. The company also operates toll-processing facilities in Nantong and Taizhou for the production of lithium hydroxide, supplying high-quality products to leading battery and automotive manufacturers.
The HSE Engineer role will be responsible for managing the site and occupational safety and maintaining HSE systems and procedures within the organization.
Reporting to HSE Manager, you will be accountable for:
- Monitor implementation of HSE programs and action items are developed, tracked and completed.
- Assist HSE Manager to develop site HSE procedures according to corporate standards.
- Identify applicable HSE laws and regulations and set up database for the site as well as providing training to employees.
- Conduct internal and external HSE audits and inspections, establish corrective action plans for all identified findings and track all open items to closure.
- Assist HSE Manager to provide effective environment, health, safety and security training to employees and contractors. Be accountable for the safety management of contractors.
- Assist HSE Manager for corporate HSE audit preparation as well as assisting other departments’ preparation to ensure the compliance.
- Monitor other departments for the maintenance of HSE facilities; make sure all HSE facilities are in good condition.
- Participate in HSE incident investigation with contribution to find out root causes and monitor the implementation of correction actions.
- Assist HSE manager to maintain ISO14001/45001 system running and make preparation for external audit.
- Participate in the identification and assessment of environment and risk analysis as well as internal communication and coordination in terms of environmental system. In charge of the waste sorting job of responsible area. Properly use safety equipment and chemicals related to HSE job. Timely report issues related to environment and safety.
- Assist HSE Manager to monitor/engage in plant sustainability management and provide reports required by corporate.
- Be responsible for plant environmental & occupational health monitoring and waste management.
- Pay close attention to all environmental & occupational health notifications from authorities, be responsible for online filling in relevant websites, and submit all environmental & occupational health related reports on time.
- Keep effective communication with key external stakeholders
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- Equivalent to a Process or Chemical Engineering Degree or Environmental Technology Degree,Obtain the certificate for Intermediate Certified Safety Engineer or Intermediate Title in Chemical engineering.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in equivalent HSE or process management in a multinational chemical plant.
- Obtain the safety qualification certificate of the production and operation entity of hazardous chemicals issued by official safety department.
- Good understanding of and experience in supporting Chinese government HSE management system requirements.
- Good communication, coordination skills.
- Good written and oral English, familiar with Microsoft Office
