Inventory Services Specialist – City of West Allis Department of Public Works

As an Inventory Services Specialist, you’ll manage thousands of essential parts and materials, support all DPW divisions with an emphasis on Fleet, ensuring our community’s infrastructure stays strong.

What You’ll Do
- Research, locate, and purchase stock and non-stock parts for multiple Public Works divisions.
- Pull, deliver, organize, and track inventory to fulfill department requests.
- Receive, inspect, unload, sort, and log incoming materials.
- Use computerized systems to record inventory, generate purchase orders, and maintain accurate data.
- Monitor the fuel system, issue fuel fobs, and maintain fueling equipment.
- Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Conduct inventory audits and help establish minimum/maximum reorder points.
- Coordinate with departments, vendors, and contractors to ensure timely deliveries and prevent work stoppages.
- Handle returns, shipment issues, and prepare items for outgoing shipments.
- Maintain a safe, organized storeroom and ensure stock security.
- Respond to occasional emergency call-ins or odd-hour needs.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or GED; an associate degree in business or related field is preferred.
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license; ability to obtain CDL, forklift certification, UST operator certification, and NIMS training after hire.
- At least one year of warehousing experience.
- Previous experience with automotive parts is strongly preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with people from diverse backgrounds.
