Accountability Objectives:
Prepares and cooks food for patients, employees, visitors, and special catered events. Maintains a clean and sanitary
work area and conforms to all health, safety, and infection control standards.
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Education, Licensure / Certification and Experience Required.
Education:
-High school graduate or equivalent required.
-Associates Degree in Culinary Arts preferred. Refer to the Experience Section for exception of minimum
qualifications.
Licensure / Certification:

Experience:
-Minimum of two (2) years as a cook in a high volume full-service restaurant OR Associates Degree in
Culinary Arts.
-Current Serve-Safe certification preferred.
Special Skill / Aptitudes:
Must be able to pass the written and practical test given by the Executive Chef. (Paul to validate)
Must be able to read, write, and follow instructions accurately.
Must have thorough knowledge of all cooking styles, and be able to read, follow, and explode standardized
recipes.
Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of
hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups.
Duties / Responsibilities:
1 Reviews menus and production sheets to determine the type and quantities of meats, vegetables, starches,
and soups to be prepared.
2 Bakes, roasts, broils, sautes, and steams meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, and other foods as required and in a
timely manner so as to maintain highest quality of product.
3 Slices or portions meats, fish and poultry for serving, to correct/ordered weight.
4 Facillitating the production of meals on the tray line.
5 Maintains the cooking area in a clean, neat, and orderly manner.
6 Adheres to all regulatory agency requirements.
7 Attends all inservice education and other meetings as directed.
8 Performs other duties as assigned and assists other associates when needed to keep operations running
smoothly.

Working Conditions:
ò Temperature variations in work area are extreme with exposure to cold storage conditions and heat from
production equipment.
ò Stand up work = 100% of shift. Frequent lifting from floor to waist upto 30 pounds. Frequent bending and
moving at shoulder height.
ò Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during shift (ie: slip resistant shoes, cutting glove)
