As a Shuttle Bus Driver, you’ll help connect our community across Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, employee parking areas, and special events while providing safe, reliable, and courteous transportation.
From greeting passengers with a friendly “hello” to assisting individuals who need additional support, your service can make a meaningful difference each day. You’ll provide transportation for patients, visitors, and employees while maintaining a strong focus on safety, professionalism, and exceptional customer service.
In this role, you’ll also assist individuals with physical challenges when boarding or exiting the shuttle, including operating the wheelchair lift and properly securing wheelchairs before the shuttle is in motion. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety help ensure every passenger has a comfortable and positive experience.
A caregiver in this position works Mon-Fri, 1:45 pm — 10:15 pm. Every 7 weeks will work on weekends.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Conduct friendly, courteous and helpful interactions with passengers.
Provide wheelchair assistance to destination and provide positive hand off with destination caregiver.
Provide safe, efficient and quality shuttle transportation service as measured by driving record, compliance with established DOT regulations and Cleveland Clinic safety policies.
Maintain vehicle presentation and cleanliness at all times in accordance with policy and procedures.
Maintain situational awareness both inside/outside the shuttle at all times.
Report any suspicious behavior to CCPD.
Complete daily passenger vehicle safety inspections prior to placing the shuttle into operation and at the end of the shift.
Record deficiencies and report prior to dispatching the vehicle.
Maintain currency and effectiveness in operating wheelchair lift and associated equipment and safely secure patient and wheelchair at the wheelchair station.
Assist passengers/luggage on/off shuttle.
Record ridership data.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Can read and write sufficient to fill out maintenance check lists
Can follow verbal directions and communicate in a clear and concise manner
Commercial driving training for purpose of safe handling of a shuttle bus with a capacity of up to 40 passengers
Possess a valid State Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with air brakes and passenger endorsement and have less than 6 points on record
Maintain eligibility of insurability as determined by CCF's insurance carrier's requirement to operate Foundation vehicles
Drivers assume responsibility to pay fees associated with traffic violations
5 years driving experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma
Prior experience transporting passengers, patients or clients
Prior commercial driving experience
Strong safety awareness
Strong customer service
Basic computer skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
- Ability to travel throughout the Cleveland Clinic health system
- Ability to travel to locations outside of the Cleveland Clinic health system
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
- Ability to move items weighing up to 50 pounds (lbs.)
- Ability to move patients
- Ability to assist patients, visitors and caregivers in wheelchairs in getting into and out of vehicles
- Ability to drive
- Ability to inspect equipment
- Ability to clean, operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning products
- Ability to distinguish color
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Per Department of Transportation regulations, if you are a CDL driver you cannot be color blind.
