Job Overview:
The Manager of Overlay Trading is a key leader within the Overlay Portfolio Management Group (OPMG) and is responsible for the oversight, execution, and continuous improvement of LPL's centrally managed advisory platforms. This includes oversight of trading for LPL’s Model Wealth Portfolios (UMA), Manager Select (SMA), Optimum Market Portfolios (mutual fund wrap), and Guided Wealth Portfolios (ETF Wrap). The role helps lead a team of 14 professional analysts and traders supporting more than $250B in assets under management.
As a key leader on the OPMG team within the Wealth Management organization at LPL, the Manager partners closely with the Overlay Operations and Service teams, the Overlay Evolution and Development team, third party platform vendors, and additional stakeholders to deliver a best-in-class outsourced trading solution. This leader drives a high‑performance culture focused on exceptional service, operational excellence, continuous innovation, and proactive issue resolution.
Responsibilities:
Lead, coach, and develop a team of analysts and traders responsible for the daily management of LPL's centrally managed advisory platforms.
Provide oversight of trading, rebalancing, account maintenance, model implementation, and operational workflows to ensure accurate and timely execution.
Serve as the primary escalation point for complex operational issues, advisor concerns, and trading-related incidents, driving issue resolution and risk mitigation.
Lead strategic initiatives, platform enhancements, conversions, and cross-functional projects that support business growth and operational scalability.
Partner with Product, Technology, Service, Risk, Compliance, and Operations teams to deliver platform improvements and business objectives.
Drive continuous process improvement efforts focused on efficiency, controls, advisor experience, and operational excellence.
Monitor operational performance, service levels, and key risk indicators, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Act as a subject matter expert and organizational leader by supporting advisor education, team communications, and enterprise-wide business initiatives.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and Series 7 and 65/66 required.
8+ years of experience in financial services, trading operations, portfolio management support, investment operations, or related disciplines.
3+ years of leadership, supervisory, or team management experience.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, operational improvements, and advisor-facing escalations.

Pay Range:
