An established Edmonton-based interior design studio with decades of experience in commercial interiors. The firm works across workplace, medical, dental, hospitality, retail, and special projects, with a portfolio that includes recognizable Edmonton tech offices, corporate fit-outs, and clinic builds across Alberta. Most of their work is led by the team's Principals, built on long-standing relationships with Alberta's commercial real estate, medical, and corporate communities.Why is this role open:
The studio's project pipeline has continued to grow across both the workplace and medical/dental sectors, and the firm is bringing on an Intermediate Designer to take ownership of mid-sized projects end-to-end. This is a growth hire into a stable, high-performing studio with active work and clear runway to grow into a Senior role over time.Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute interior design projects from programming through construction administration on commercial fit-outs in the 2,000–25,000 sq. ft. range
- Develop space plans, design concepts, finish selections, FF&E specifications, and millwork details
- Produce construction documentation in AutoCAD to a build-ready standard
- Assist in site visits and site reviews
- Support contract administration including RFI responses, shop drawing review, and change order coordination
- Contribute to the studio's design culture, including material libraries, vendor relationships, and continuous improvement of standards
Must-haves:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Interior Design from a CIDA- or CIDQ-accredited program
- 3–6 years of post-graduate experience in commercial interior design (workplace, medical, dental, retail, or hospitality)
- Strong working knowledge AutoCAD; proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop)
- Solid grasp of the Alberta Building Code, barrier-free design requirements, and commercial construction documentation standards
- Demonstrated ability to take a project from concept through construction administration
- Strong portfolio including a variety of typologies
- Excellent communication skills. Comfortable presenting to clients and coordinating with consultants and contractors
- Eligible to work in Canada and able to work full-time in-office in Edmonton
- Registered or actively pursuing registration with IDA (Interior Designers of Alberta) — RID designation or NCIDQ in progress
- Direct experience with medical or dental clinic design (infection control, plumbing/mechanical coordination for treatment rooms, equipment specification)
- Experience with workplace projects for tech, professional services, or corporate clients
- SketchUp, Enscape, or other 3D visualization software
- Familiarity with LEED, WELL, or other sustainability frameworks
- Experience working directly with millworkers and custom fabricators
- Existing relationships with Edmonton-area trades, suppliers, and product reps
