Overview Cedarhurst is a small, therapeutic middle and high school.  The substitute teacher will be covering for teachers in small classes (no more than 8 students) of varying subjects.  Students have social, emotional and behavioral issues that interfere with their ability to succeed in a regular educational setting.  The substitute teacher will implement lessons that are provided, monitor student progress, intervene when students need help, communicate and collaborate with teaching, behavioral and clinical staff, and provide written feedback to teachers whom they have covered.  Required Skills and Abilities 1. Ability to verbally communicate instruction. 2. Ability to adjust quickly to changing circumstances (flexibility). 3. Ability to remain calm during episodes of crisis or acting out behavior. 4. Good verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Education, Experience and Skills Bachelor’s Degree. Prefer experience in a school setting or in human services.

Principal Responsibilities

1.  Follows regularly assigned teacher's lesson plan. 2.  Instruct students in classroom groups or individually. 3.  Makes decisions about various classroom and school situations requiring assessment of students' clinical state. 4.  Monitors classwork. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and at least three years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
