Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a Senior Web Developer (UI & API Integration) to lead front-end development and API integration for a federal environmental platform. You will design and implement user interface updates that enable federal users to access new species data for regulatory consultations, ensuring full Section 508 accessibility compliance throughout. This is a fully remote position.
The Department of the Interior (DOI), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), and NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) have identified a critical gap in the federal government's ability to conduct comprehensive Endangered Species Act (ESA) research. While FWS operates an authoritative web-based platform for managing data for terrestrial and freshwater species, it does not currently include NMFS marine and anadromous species data forcing agencies to rely on separate, manual processes. This program closes that gap by integrating marine and anadromous species data into the existing FWS platform, creating a single, unified experience for all ESA-listed species.
Work Location: Remote
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Lead platform user interface updates to display new species data alongside existing species, including habitat designations, listing status, and regulatory requirements
- Design and implement the updated geographic query interface for marine and coastal query types
- Develop and integrate authorized API connections between the platform front-end and the cloud data layer
- Ensure all UI changes comply with Section 508/WCAG 2.0 Level AA accessibility standards, coordinating with QA Engineers for DHS Trusted Tester Methodology accessibility testing
- Produce Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs) using VPAT Version 2.4 Rev 508 for all UI updates
- Update the consultation package builder front-end to support new content generation and joint agency consultation package assembly
- Contribute to the IPaC UI and Logic Update Package, delivering all front-end UI components, geographic query interface updates, and consultation package builder enhancements with accompanying VPAT documentation for government review
- Support the demo environment setup for government demonstrations, ensuring the UI is stable and demo-ready
- Implement UI updates based on live consultation feedback from production
