11Grade Level (for internal use): 11
The Team
Platts is the world's leading price reporting organisation, and a cornerstone of how global commodity markets discover price. Our London-based Residual Fuels team publishes European and African fuel oil and marine fuels assessments — including globally recognised industry benchmarks such as FOB Rotterdam 3.5% FO barges and FOB Rotterdam 0.5% Marine Fuel barges — that commodity traders, regulators, and investors rely on every single day. This is a team that operates at pace, holds itself to the highest standards of accuracy, and plays an outsized role in the transparency and integrity of global energy markets.
Responsibilities and Impact
- Lead daily editorial operations — Manage the day-to-day running of the five-person London residual fuels team, overseeing scheduling, coverage, and editorial workflow in full compliance with Platts assessment methodology and IOSCO Principles for Price Reporting Agencies.
- Safeguard assessment integrity — Act as the critical second-review function, approving high-importance daily price assessments and ensuring process adherence at every stage of the assessment cycle.
- Identify and escalate market developments — Monitor evolving fuel oil and marine fuels market dynamics, surfacing emerging issues and triggering timely methodology reviews in coordination with the Associate Editorial Director and Business Quality and Controls team.
- Drive and direct news coverage — Write and publish real-time news and analysis across residual fuels markets while developing the team's news output to maximise market depth and relevance.
- Coach and develop price reporters — Mentor junior team members through structured training, methodology coaching, and professional development, maintaining a consistent and scalable approach to coverage standards.
- Represent Platts internally and externally — Serve as a confident ambassador for the team's work, contributing to client engagement, methodology training, and external communications as required.
