Description
Join VELUX as Head of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) in a role where you will combine people management with responsibility for our business-critical PLM landscape. You will develop a team of PLM Specialists while managing the roadmap, architecture governance and continued improvement of the PLM platforms.
Meet your future team
You will join the Products & Innovation organization and head up the PLM area with a team responsible for the PLM platforms that support product development and other parts of the value chain. Your team consists of PLM Specialists covering different PLM systems such as Windchill, Creo, AutoCAD and SOLIDWORKS. The team combines deep platform knowledge with responsibility for architecture, operations and support.
You will report to the Director of Product Data & Systems and work closely with colleagues across Product Development, Operations & Supply, and IT.
The role also includes close collaboration with external partners delivering software licensing, strategic consultancy and technical development and support. You will help ensure that internal business needs, architecture decisions and external deliveries are connected.
What we offer
This is a new management role with an approximately equal balance between technical leadership and people management. You will have the opportunity to establish the technical direction for a business-critical PLM landscape and create clear collaboration across business stakeholders, architects and external partners.
More specifically your tasks will be to:
- Manage, develop and support a team of PLM Specialists, including workload planning, competence development, knowledge transfer and succession planning.
- Define and maintain the PLM roadmap, platform strategy and architecture governance for our PLM solutions.
- Work closely with the Lead Solution Architect on architecture decisions and initiatives related to the digital thread, including DBOM, EBOM, MBOM and integration between CAD, PLM and ERP.
- Coordinate PLM releases, larger upgrades and development activities with internal stakeholders and external partners, including regular release and delivery meetings as part of the Scrum release process.
- Manage the outsourced PLM operations setup together with the Director of Product Data & Systems, including service levels, supplier collaboration, vendor performance and license management.
- Be accountable for PLM processes and ways of working, including participation in relevant Process Improvement Teams to ensure PLM capabilities optimally support and integrate with business processes.
- Support Product Development and other business stakeholders by translating business needs into clear technical priorities and by contributing to product data, digital thread and emerging AI-related initiatives.
The role is located in Østbirk with flexibility to work from home up to 2 days per week when tasks and projects allow. You can expect limited travelling in Denmark and abroad – up to 15 days yearly.
What you will bring into the organization
You bring a technical background and substantial experience with PLM in a manufacturing or engineering environment where product data and platform stability are business critical. You can engage in detailed technical discussions with architects and translate technical choices into clear consequences and options for business stakeholders. You communicate clearly, build constructive relationships and can raise important topics with stakeholders across the organization.
Moreover, we expect that you:
- Bring solid experience with PLM platforms, ideally including Windchill PDMLink and Creo, as well as working knowledge of PTC RV&S/Codebeamer.
- Understand BOM architectures, including EBOM, DBOM and MBOM, and the integration landscape between CAD, PLM and ERP.
- Have experience managing technical specialists and supporting their development through clear expectations, regular dialogue and knowledge-sharing.
- Can assess architectural options and be accountable for technical priorities, platform stability, lifecycle management and business continuity.
- Have experience collaborating with external technology partners, including support setups, software upgrades, service levels and license agreements.
- Are familiar with Agile or Scrum-inspired delivery models and can coordinate development activities.
