Veterinary Assistant Wanted: Must Love Pets, Fear Free Care, and Great Teamwork! đž
Job Title: Veterinary Assistant
Location: Kenmore Veterinary Hospital â Kenmore, WA
Position Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
Target Start Date: Mid-August 2026
About Us
At Kenmore Veterinary Hospital, we take high-quality medicine seriously, but we don't take ourselves too seriously. We are a passionate, collaborative, and upbeat team dedicated to providing gentle, low-stress care to our four-legged patients (and their human parents).
We practice Fear Free handling principles to make clinic visits as calm, safe, and positive as possible for everyone involved. If you believe in low-stress restraint, treat distraction, and creating a supportive clinic culture where your skills and sense of humor are valued, youâll fit right in!
What You'll Be Doing
As our Veterinary Assistant, you are the backbone of our treatment floor. Youâll work side-by-side with our doctors and technicians to deliver low-stress, compassionate care.
- Fear Free Patient Care: Restrain dogs and cats using gentle, low-stress handling techniques for exams, blood draws, and diagnostics (peanut butter and lick mats are your best friends!).
- Tech Support: Assist with lab work, pharmacy prep, digital x-rays, and surgical prep/monitoring support.
- Client Communication: Educate pet parents on low-stress vet visits, explain discharge instructions, and share reassuring smiles.
- Clinic Operations: Keep treatment areas, surgical suites, and exam rooms sparkling clean, stocked, and ready for action.
- Morale Boosting: Expertly dispense forehead scratches, treat rewards, and belly rubs to our patients (and occasional snacks to the team).
What Weâre Looking For (Requirements)
Because our floor moves fast, we are looking for someone with prior experience on the treatment floor who can jump right in with confidence!
- Experience: Minimum 1+ years of hands-on clinical experience as a Veterinary Assistant in a small animal practice.
- Fear Free Philosophy: Experience or active practice with Fear Free or low-stress handling techniques (Fear Free Certification is a major bonus, but a commitment to the philosophy is a must!).
- Skillset: Comfortable with gentle animal restraint, basic lab equipment, blood draws, and medical terminology.
- Mindset: Enthusiastic, dependable, empathetic, and eager to collaborate with a supportive team.
Why Youâll Love Working Here
- Competitive pay based on experience
- Generous personal pet care discounts
- Health, dental, and retirement options (for eligible full-time staff)
- Paid time off & uniform allowance
- A supportive, positive team that actually enjoys working together!
